Keanu Reeves is set to make his long-awaited return as the world's most badass hitman in next year's John Wick: Chapter 4, and with Christmas fast approaching, we have an early gift in the form of a new official image (via ActioNewz.com).
In that, Baba Yaga can be seen wielding nunchucks as he prepares to square off with a very formidable-looking opponent. They (literally) don't know what's about to hit them, however, and we'd bet on this unsuspecting goon being a member of the High Table, the council of crime lords that have emerged as the franchise's main antagonists.
During an interview with Empire earlier this month, director Chad Stahelski hyped the movie up by saying. "If you took The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, crossed it with Zatoichi, and threw in a Greek myth, you’d probably get something close to this. And who else [frick]ing says those kinds of sentences? Now you know why I like doing John Wicks."
That's also why we like, nay, love, watching these movies.
While we're still waiting for news on a fifth John Wick movie, we do expect Reeves' action hero to live to fight another day, especially following recent confirmation that he'll appear in the Ana de Armas-led spin-off movie, Ballerina (which reportedly takes place between the events of the third and fourth movies).
As for this instalment, Reeves is going to be joined by returning cast members Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne, along with franchise newcomers, Bill Skarsgård, Shamier Anderson, and Clancy Brown. Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Natalia Tena will also appear.
In the movie, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating the High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released in theaters on March 24, 2023.
