Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer for Tanya Wexler's upcoming action comedy Jolt, which stars Kate Beckinsale (UnderworldVan Helsing) in the lead role as a woman named Lindy, who has quite a serious rage problem that's going to get her mixed up with some very bad people.

The film has been described as a female version of the Jason Statham classic Crank, but whereas that film required Statham's Chev Chelios to keep his adrenaline up so he wouldn't die, Jolt will see Beckinsale's character dealing with a rare neurological disorder that forces her to experience sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device.

In addition to Beckinsale, the all-star cast features Bobby Cannavale (Ant-ManAnt-Man and the Wasp), Jai Courtney (The Suicide SquadTerminator Genisys), 4x Primetime Emmy-nominee Laverne Cox (Promising Young WomanCharlie's Angels), David Bradley (Harry PotterThe World's End), Ori Pfeffer (Hacksaw RidgeYou Don't Mess with the Zohan), Academy Award-winner Susan Sarandon (A Bad Moms Christmas30 Rock), and Academy Award-nominee Stanley Tucci (Captain America: The First AvengerThe King's Man).

Jolt will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on July 23.

Lindy is a beautiful, sardonically-funny woman with a painful secret: Due to a lifelong, rare neurological disorder, she experiences sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device. Unable to find love and connection in a world that fears her bizarre condition, she finally trusts a man long enough to fall in love, only to find him murdered the next day. Heartbroken and enraged, she embarks on a revenge-filled mission to find his killer, while also being pursued by the police as the crime’s prime suspect.

She would be a good addition to the John Wick series, wonder if they are still trying to build a universe around that

They missed a trick by not casting Amber Heard in this.

JOLT... how is that for a baby girl’s name? Me and the wife are thinking about names for our future daughter. Jolt sounds like a Jolie but unique with a code name for the heroine of a video game or comic book or something. I might have to bring this up with the wifey...

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Me and my gf are nearing our 30's and been together for 10 years now.

We've also seen around 1000 films and TV shows (combined) and play vidrogames together as well.

Not a case of marriage, but proof CBM users can have significant others lol

Oh, Kate! My favorite thing about the "Pearl Harbor" film. She saved the first half of the movie!

I like her in action roles, and she has a solid range as an actress that this feels nothing like Selene or her other noteworthy roles. If this gets positive word of mouth ill check it out.

If I was to be honest their are so many films out their now with the same plot point. Loved members get killed. Main character goes after the villains for revenge.

so is the only arrowverse article this week going to be for the show, that even Arrowverse fans think is mediocre at best?

No Legends article, and guessing no Flash article

I'm not really sold on this. It can be fun, but I hope it isn't too much like John Wick or Atomic Blonde. I like mid-budget action, although it does all start to look the same to me

Meh. Jason Statham's Crank all over again.

I feel like there's some neurological pseudo-science at work here, but the movie looks fun (when nobody is talking).
