Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer for Tanya Wexler's upcoming action comedy Jolt, which stars Kate Beckinsale (Underworld; Van Helsing) in the lead role as a woman named Lindy, who has quite a serious rage problem that's going to get her mixed up with some very bad people.
The film has been described as a female version of the Jason Statham classic Crank, but whereas that film required Statham's Chev Chelios to keep his adrenaline up so he wouldn't die, Jolt will see Beckinsale's character dealing with a rare neurological disorder that forces her to experience sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device.
In addition to Beckinsale, the all-star cast features Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man; Ant-Man and the Wasp), Jai Courtney (The Suicide Squad; Terminator Genisys), 4x Primetime Emmy-nominee Laverne Cox (Promising Young Woman; Charlie's Angels), David Bradley (Harry Potter; The World's End), Ori Pfeffer (Hacksaw Ridge; You Don't Mess with the Zohan), Academy Award-winner Susan Sarandon (A Bad Moms Christmas; 30 Rock), and Academy Award-nominee Stanley Tucci (Captain America: The First Avenger; The King's Man).
Jolt will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on July 23.
Lindy is a beautiful, sardonically-funny woman with a painful secret: Due to a lifelong, rare neurological disorder, she experiences sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device. Unable to find love and connection in a world that fears her bizarre condition, she finally trusts a man long enough to fall in love, only to find him murdered the next day. Heartbroken and enraged, she embarks on a revenge-filled mission to find his killer, while also being pursued by the police as the crime’s prime suspect.
