@jimoakley666 Snyder doesn't need to be an Oscar caliber director to be good

jimoakley666- I'm probably Snyder's biggest fan. I wouldn't suck his cock, but i'd wash it for him LOL Seriously though, i understand your point of view, you have the same sentiment towards Snyder fans that i have towards Rodriguez fans. But at the end of the day, we all have our favorites and i guess there's just no logic or common sense to it at all. Only tastes. I mean seriously... Rodriguez??? WTF??? LMAO ;P

i like how people want to put every director on the same pedestal...apparently there is no such thing as artistic direction anymore. what i'm hearing from you haters is you want the same movie all the time so you can jizz your pants when they get nominated for an Oscar...a f*cking statue that really means nothing. let it be what it is, this movie looks great artistically and story wise. so reserve your judgement please

Different director's have different strengths. Every one of Snyder's films have looked visually stunning. I'm glad I'll be able to see a great story driven Nolan Batman movie and also see a Snyder movie with amazing visual imagery. Can't wait for this film.

jimoakley666- Again, i fully see your point of view. Hell, i even fully agree with your Schumaker comment. The man's made two of my favorite films of all time(Lost Boys, Falling Down) and the two films i wish could be erased from history entirely, the most (both his bat[frick]s). Yet, what does make a good director or a bad one? Perception. The most relative concept in existance. One man's trash is another man's treasure. There's just no other way around it.

From my own point of view, Snyder is more capable than many others of giving us "an effective story with a start middle and end and tell it in a way that is entertaining but also interesting." Weither on his own (which seems to be the case with Sucker Punch) or by breathing life through an already existing story like Peter Jackson, Alex Proyas, Chris Columbus, James McTeigue or David Yates. A bad director couldn't do that to save his life (like Uwe Boll, as you already mentionned). On my own personal scale, i'd give Rodriguez a 4 out of 10. And that's very generous of me, only because he made a VERY accurate adaptation himself, of Sin City of course. But since it is his only film i can enjoy, i can't truly give him more than that 4, no matter what he does and why he does it. I just can't appreciate him as a director. I can merely appreciate his (what i call) "fluke" adaptation of Sin City, because it truly is the one film that stands out as different than his usual shtick.

So really, the only reason i'd rate Rodriguez lower than Snyder, and for you to do the contrary, is merely on account of the relativity of perception itself. To me, a picture is worth a thousand words. But then again, that's only MY perception. I can still remember the DC message boards about Batgirl having too little words in her solo books when the story practically yelled out at me through her action scenes, without ever needing any words. We just perceived those books differently. That's what i find so spectacular about Snyder, his visual mastery at telling a story through mere scenes. He's literally one of the few directors in the business today that actually could make a mute film interesting, hell even enthralling.
