The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Frank Marshall is closing in on a deal to produce Assassin's Creed for New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures. He has an exceptional pedigree when it comes to producing blockbusters, and his involvement should provide this movie with the level of quality that Ubisoft are taking an active role in attempting to ensure for their adaptations. Mike Lesslie has written the script for Assassin's Creed and Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) is attached to star. This is the third major piece of news about a Ubisoft movie adaptation to hit this week following the announcement that The Expendables 2's Basil Iwanyk will produce Splinter Cell and Michael Bay will do the same - and possibly even direct - Ghost Recon.

Assassin's Creed is my second favorite game franchise (behind Mortal Kombat, of course). Ubisoft as an independent studio with Michael Fassender as the star and produced by Frank Marshall. Please don't screw this up! This sounds like its going to be amazing! Also, Altair for the first movie.

So he's maybe playing Desmond and hopefully not a white wash for Altair. At least its not Jake Gyllenhaal.

@bgharcourt: Jake Gyllenhaal is one of those actors who's great no matter what role he's in. I felt he did a great job in Prince of Persia. I'm particularly not a fan of the games (not saying they're bad, I just can't get into them) so, I probably appreciated the movie more.

Raiders is just one of those amazing movies, and with someone who was involved in that, on board for this?...I have high expectations

This is sounding good.

Regarding Ghost Recon, it is a far too complex idea for a basic dude like Michael Bay to be attached to. I could see Ghost Recon being a Ridley Scott production.
