Vinz Clortho, "The Keymaster" himself, Rick Moranis says he could be convinced to return for GHOSTBUSTERS 3 under the right conditions. Moranis who has played other well known roles as Wayne Szalinski in HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS and Dark Helmet in SPACEBALLS, has been noticeably absent from acting since the late 90's. Moranis originally chose to take a break to raise his children and later decided he didn't miss acting.

In a recent interview however, Moranis believes he could be convinced to reprise his role as lovable goofball, Louis Tully. Moranis stated, “I got a call three or four years ago from an associate of Aykroyd’s,” says Moranis. "Some sort of producer. And he said, 'Listen, I gotta ask you something, because the internet says you’re retired…I gotta ask, would you do it?'” “I said, 'I don’t say no to anything until everything is presented to me. What is it? Is it happening? Is there a script? What’s the part? Who else is in it? Where is it? How long is it gonna take?’ You know, I need a little bit more information."

This could be exciting news for fans of the GHOSTBUSTERS franchise though with the constant obstacles Dan Aykroyd has faced in getting the film out of development hell, who knows when this could come to pass. Frequent readers of comicbookmovie.com know that the orignal cast for the films such as Bill Murray who played Peter Venkman, have not committed to a third film.

With modern special effects and the original cast on board, this movie could be awesome. I agree if Murray doesn't return the movie will struggle finding an audience.

He retired because of the the loss of his wife & he wanted to take care of his kids. Rick did an honorable thing....even though I feel his acting was going downhill in the early 90's.

I give him credit for what he did, but I am glad he is considering coming back.

There are so many talented comics and actors/actresses with good comedic timing out there who could easily comprise a new generation of Ghostbusters. Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Donald Glover, Emma Stone... I could keep going.
