SYNOPSIS: A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, Real Steel stars Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

STARRING:

Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton
Dakota Goyo as Max Kenton
Evangeline Lilly as Bailey Tallet
Kevin Durand as Ricky
Anthony Mackie as Finn

@MrEko This isnt the first futuristic sports movie. Rollerball comes to mind.

@Dev7 shit is brown and squishy this does not seem to resemble shit. I say its worth a look. Not much new in the theaters worth seeing so why not.

@Biggums its not widely known but SRL is secretly a blood sucking member of the undead that feeds upon virgin blood but other than that he is an awsome guy and a class act. ;)

Its a boxing movie with robots and Wolverine AND its based off an old episode of the Twilight Zone.
What the heck more do you guys need to perk up your interest in this movie!?
Admittedly, it could be pretty bad after watching but I'm as psyched as a squirrel in a nut factory about this movie!

I wonder if he taught him how it is possible for a grown man to get molested by an Olympic boxing trainer, or in his case, a movie director, or how to achieve greatness while saying yes to drugs, or how to cheat on your wife without getting caught? Oh, that's right, he's not trying to sell a book here. Same rules don't apply; actors are already rockstars.

This movie is surprisingly a good movie. I saw the completed version of this movie a month ago in a test audience...we got free tickets but no one would tell us what movie we where going to see until two minutes before it started. It's like robot jocks meets rocky, swallowed by over the top. Hugh Jackman plays a deuce for the first half of the movie surprisingly well.
