Filming on The Equalizer 3 has officially commenced, on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, and to get things started off right, Sony Pictures has released a handful of photos from the set, revealing our first look at 2x Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington (FencesTraining Day) reprising his iconic role as Robert McCall.

Joining Washington are Dakota Fanning (Man on FireWar of the Worlds) and Gaia Scodellaro (That Dirty Black Bag; You, Me and the Apocalypse), who have both been cast in undisclosed leading parts.

Antoine Fuqua (Training DayThe Magnificent Seven) returns to helm the third installment, with a screenplay from Richard Wenk, who also penned the first two films.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it'll surely be one of the more anticipated titles of 2023, especially with audiences already excited to see the long awaited on-screen reunion of former Man on Fire co-stars, Washington and Fanning. It's also one of the biggest action sequels of the year, joining Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One and John Wick: Chapter 4

The Equalizer 3 hits theaters on September 1, 2023.

Check out the new photos below:

The third Robert McCall action thriller film directed by Antoine Fuqua, written by Richard Wenk, based on the television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.

It's cool to see them together. I love the Tony Scott-directed Denzel films. All five are fun watches. Man on Fire is certainly the darkest of them.

Man on Fire was awesome. I like the Equalizer but Man on Fire was on a whole nother level of awesome revenge/rescue suspense film.

An unparalleled actor. Except for all the myriad great impersonators of him. I just pictured each one replacing him: Frank Caliendo on Training Day, Jamie Foxx on remember the titans, Jay pharaoh in he got game etc.

Unparalleled I tell ya

@grif - They were in one of both of their most impactful films together. Their chemistry and emotion as actors was top level and seeing them on screen again could very well be a delight for people that enjoy actors at the top of their field.

@grif - fair enough, you did ask though. Are the Equalizer flicks good? I wasn’t a fan of the originals but the remake looked solid. I didn’t realize they were on the third one already.

@Deklipz - yes. the end of the first one is a bit lackluster though. kind of a false build up for the bad guy.

@grif - that happens with the genre in general so that’s kind of whatever. I can deal with it if the acting is solid and the overall flick is fun. Denzel is one of the most consistent actors working so I had been curious about it but since my dad passed I kind of let those movies fall to the side.

@grif - it isn't a big deal. Idiots in the media need something to talk about though.

I dont know if I'll be able to watch this without thinking that he lived after Man on Fire and continued on doing bad ass work. Will this give us a "Split" like crossover at the end? Find out on the next episode of Dragonball Z!

Nobody gives a ahit about the reunion of Denzel and Fanning. They are excited about this movie, Fanning is irrelevant in the level of excitement.
