The new film, directed by Antoine Fuqua(The Replacement Killers), stars Denzel Washington (Malcolm X, Glory) as Sam Chisolm, Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World) as Josh Farray, Lee Byung-hun(G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra, G.I.Joe: Retaliation) as Billy Rocks, Vincent D'Onofrio(Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Daredevil) as Jack Home, Ethan Hawke(Gattaca) as Goodnight Robicheaux, Manuel Garcia Rulfo(From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) as Vasquez, and Martin Sensmeier(Salem) as Red Harvest.

The movie also stars Haley Bennett(Hardcore Henry), Vinnie Jones(Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels), Matt Bomer(White Collar), and Peter Sarsgaard(Green Lantern) as the films main villain, Bartholomew Bogue. This film is a remake of the original 1960 Magnificent Seven, which starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Brad Dexter, Horst Buchholz, Robert Vaughn, and Eli Wallach. The original movie is itself a remake of the classic 1954 Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai, which starred Toshiro Mifune(Throne of Blood, Yojimbo, Rashomon) and Takashi Shimura(Godzilla 1954).
