Gal Gadot will once again be saving the world, only this time she'll be doing it in a more traditional manner. Trading in her whip and shield, Gadot will star in a new international spy movie from The Old Guard's Greg Rucka.
According to Deadline, Gadot has signed an eight-figure deal to star in Heart of Stone, an original spy thriller from Skydance Media. Rucka scripted the upcoming film alongside Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder (Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for Hidden Figures). Tom Harper (The Aeronauts, Wild Rose) is in talks to direct.
Plot specifics were not revealed, but Deadline reports that Slydance "endeavors to put a female spin on action franchises like Mission: Impossible and 007." Production is obviously still in the very early stages, and Skydance remains flexible when it comes to a theatrical or streaming service release.
Gadot is best known for her role as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman. The whole world is currently awaiting the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, which was delayed multiple times due to the global pandemic before Warner Bros. ultimately settled on releasing it via HBO Max. You can catch Gadot in the highly anticipated blockbuster sequel when it premieres on the streaming service Christmas Day, December 25.
Meanwhile, Skydance Media remains active with a slate of films that includes Top Gun: Maverick, Without Remorse, Snake Eyes, and two more Mission: Impossible installments.
