Gal Gadot will once again be saving the world, only this time she'll be doing it in a more traditional manner. Trading in her whip and shield, Gadot will star in a new international spy movie from The Old Guard's Greg Rucka.

According to Deadline, Gadot has signed an eight-figure deal to star in Heart of Stone, an original spy thriller from Skydance Media. Rucka scripted the upcoming film alongside Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder (Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for Hidden Figures). Tom Harper (The Aeronauts, Wild Rose) is in talks to direct.

Plot specifics were not revealed, but Deadline reports that Slydance "endeavors to put a female spin on action franchises like Mission: Impossible and 007." Production is obviously still in the very early stages, and Skydance remains flexible when it comes to a theatrical or streaming service release.

Gadot is best known for her role as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman. The whole world is currently awaiting the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, which was delayed multiple times due to the global pandemic before Warner Bros. ultimately settled on releasing it via HBO Max. You can catch Gadot in the highly anticipated blockbuster sequel when it premieres on the streaming service Christmas Day, December 25.

Meanwhile, Skydance Media remains active with a slate of films that includes Top Gun: Maverick, Without Remorse, Snake Eyes, and two more Mission: Impossible installments.

Gadot is getting [frick]ing paid! She's the biggest female star to come out of CBMs, so good for her!

@Battabing - Good for her, but she still can't act

@RegularPoochie - Well lets see her next slate of films. She was good in Wonder Woman. And she hasn't done much since then, so lets see.

I admit she hasn't been great outside that.

@aresww3 - That's what I meant with the acting. We will see how this turns up.

@RegularPoochie - so true, she really can't act. I remember the first movie where they make her whole island speak in her accent. Good days 😆

@JustALurker - what has that got to do with anything? it makes sense for the Amazons to have a different accent.

@RegularPoochie - My worry is its a thing where Patty is able to get the performance out of her. Like Charlize Theron has never been as good as with Patty. Maybe Patty just knows how to get great performances. But I have to say I saw something special in Gal in Wonder Woman. She has screen charisma in the same way as Julia Roberts, The Rock, Arnie or George Clooney. None are great actors, but they've got great personalities that translate well to screen. So as long as someone can get Gal to act naturally as herself, I think she should have a good career. Maybe stick to action stuff until she is comfortable and so she won't get exposed. That is why i'm super worried about Cleopatra. I think she should do a supporting role in that movie, so as not to expose herself.

I think this has a lot of potential, if done right. We could definitely use more spy franchises. The Bourne franchise is done, and it looks like M:I will end with the eighth film in 2022.

That will just leave the James Bond franchise as the only spy franchise left.

I’m interested in hearing more about this.

An eight figure deal ain't bad. Guess they're either quite confident in Gadot, in the IP or both.

Wouldn't mind it to Gadot as a secret agent in the James Bond franchise either though.

@Doomsday8888 - not a lot. Something like 10 mils should be standard for her.

why do every time I watch her performance I feel like she is doing more modelling than acting?

@bman263 - she’s got great screen presence but she’s an average actress at best. Really needs a co star who she can have great chemistry with.

Curious if this will lead to him helping script the 3rd Wonder Woman movie...
