GHOST RIDER Star Nicolas Cage Confirms He HASN'T Spoken To Marvel Studios About Reprising The Role

Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and the actor has now shared his thoughts on potentially reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

It's now been a decade since Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was released in theaters, and while the Robbie Reyes version of the character appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Johnny Blaze has remained on the shelf. There had been plans for Robbie to get his own spinoff on Hulu, but the project was scrapped when Marvel Television was disbanded and Marvel Studios took charge.

In recent months, there's been a lot of chatter surrounding Ghost Rider's MCU future - including from Spirit of Vengeance director Mark Neveldine - but could a potential reboot involve Nicolas Cage?

Talking to, the actor was asked if he's spoken to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about reprising the role. "Not yet, no. That hasn’t happened," he confirmed before reflecting on a recent interview that saw him praise comic book movies. "But what’s interesting is nobody asked me about going back to Ghost Rider. That was a question that came up and they weren’t asking about Ghost Rider, they were asking, 'What do you think of the Marvel movies?' And I gave my opinion about it."

Asked directly if he would return, Cage simply shared his love of the Marvel Comics character. "Ghost Rider is an amazing character. I mean, he’s a complicated character. It’s kind of like, how do you tell the story of Faust within the context of that universe? Because, it’s a very philosophical character. I think it makes him special from other superheroes."

Despite rumours of Ghost Rider revving into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we're betting that probably won't happen. Instead, Marvel Studios likely hopes to put a fresh spin on the character in the MCU, especially now they're embracing this world's supernatural, horror side.

Do you think Cage deserves to take another shot at playing Johnny Blaze?
