SCREAM Star Melissa Barrera Reveals Some Of The Horror Sequel's Alternate Endings - SPOILERS

With Scream now heading into its second week in theaters, star Melissa Barrera has revealed some of the alternate ending that were given to her in script form before production got underway.

Major spoilers for Scream ahead!

Like the movies that preceded it, Scream 5 (you can check out our review here) concludes with the unmasking of Ghostface and the big reveal of the identity of the killer(s) who've been slicing their way through the denizens of Woodsboro (seriously, why does anyone stay in that town?)

This time, the deranged murderers turn out to be Sam's boyfriend Ritchie (Jack Quaid) and her sister Tara's (Jenna Ortega) supposed bestie Amber (Mikey Madison), but it sounds like other character combinations were considered.

Though mothing was actually filmed, Melissa Barrera (Sam) revealed some of the alternate endings she was given before production began during an interview with THR.

"They gave us different versions of the ending, and they had produced different versions of the ending as a precaution in case someone leaked the ending. They could cover themselves this way. But in my script, I remember the killers were both female. I don’t think it was Tara; I think it was Amber and Mindy [Jasmin Savoy Brown] or Amber and Liv [Sonia Ben Ammar]."

"When I talked to the directors, I was like, “Oh my god, it’s so amazing that it’s all women at the end," she continued. "The killers are women and the survivors are women. It’s so epic!” And they were like, “Yeah, that’s not the real ending.” So I was like, “OK! I’m still going to be excited.” So they didn’t give me the right ending, and I actually didn’t know who the killers were going to end up being until later."

Funnily enough, it doesn't sound like Sam - who is revealed to be the daughter of original Ghostface Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) and has some serial killer tendencies herself - was ever considered as a potential Ghostface, which suggests she was always envisioned as the franchise's new primary protagonist.

Have you guys been to see Scream yet? If so, did you guess who the killers were?
