GODZILLA VS. KONG: First Look At Adult, Bearded King Kong Revealed In Prequel Comic Book

A new Godzilla vs. Kong tie-in comic has revealed a first look at the adult King Kong, and as well as growing significantly bigger, the iconic monster has also started rocking a pretty impressive beard...

Despite officially being set for this November, it's looking likely that Godzilla vs. Kong will slip into next May. That's down to the COVID-19 pandemic, of course, and might explain why we still haven't seen a trailer for the movie which is set to serve as the culmination of Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters

However, a first look at how Kong will appear in the crossover has seemingly been revealed courtesy of some comic book pages which were unveiled during the "Legendary Comics: Monsterverse Publishing 2020" panel that took place during Wondercon@Home 2020.

As you can see below, Kong appears to have not only grown considerably bigger since we last saw him (which he needs to in order to face Godzilla), but also cultivated a pretty epic beard!

Directed by Adam Wingard, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, Zhang Ziyi, and Demián Bichir. It's an impressive ensemble, and the hope is that it will be better than the disappointing Godzilla: King of the Monsters which was released in theaters last year.

What are your thoughts on this take on Kong?

@tylerzero - Amazing Effects in a non-sensical story. I so close to liking the characters but the movie took a sharp left turn to crazy town.

Kong: Skull Island is so damn good. I know that he will probably lose to Zilla, but I’m Rooting for him.

Would probably watch the final battle when it gets uploaded on youtube, King of the Monsters prooved these movies to be only spectacle above everything else. I wouldn't blink if they cut out all the human scenes.

Don't understand the criticism these movies get for being purely spectacle. Of course they are. Giant monster movie.

The only reason the Japanese have made them slightly better isn't because of their effects, but their sociopolitical/environmental subtext. The films were born out of a Japanese tragedy.

Our films don't have that same gravitas. Only with the Legendary films have we attached the "they are nature's defenders" tag to these monster in an attempt to give them some weight. I don't blame them. They've tried. Now, give me a halfway decent human story and great monster fights.

Godzilla KOTM tried 100x harder than Godzilla 2014 to root this franchise in some kind of 'save the planet' 'environmental protector' lore that run of the mill Hollywood studios would have ignored altogether. Give them credit for at least trying.
