DUNK AND EGG: Steve Conrad Tapped To Write GAME OF THRONES Spinoff Series For HBO

HBO's live-action Tales of Dunk and Egg series is officially moving forward, with Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness, Patriot, Perpetual Grace, LTD) tapped to write the Game of Thrones spinoff.

We first heard that HBO was working on a series based on George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas back in January, and it looks like the network is officially moving forward with the Game of Thrones prequel show.

Deadline reports that Steve Conrad (Patriot, The Pursuit of Happyness, Perpetual Grace, LTD) has been hired to write and executive produce the spinoff series.

Martin's Dunk and Egg books, The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010), follow the adventures of Dunk (Ser Duncan the Tall) and Egg (the future king Aegon V. Taregaryen), some 90 years before the events of the A Song of Ice and saga.

This is just one of several Game of Thrones spinoffs in various stages of development. House of the Dragon is in the can and set to premiere next year, but there are said to be a number of other projects earmarked for development, including a couple of animated ideas that are being considered for HBO Max.
