Bo Peep And Woody Lead A Toy Rescue Mission In New TOY STORY 4 Sneak Peek

Bo Peep stars in this new clip from Disney-Pixar's Toy Story 4m as a flashback sequence reveals she's been pretty awesome this entire time, but never really got a chance to shine in the previous movies...

It's been quite a while since we last saw Bo Peep, as Woody's love interest was oddly omitted from Toy Story 3. She's finally back in Toy Story 4, however, and it appears she'll be returning in much more than just a supporting role this time around.

After being away for more than 20 years, Bo Peep has sure changed quite a bit. "Bo's got some 'tude now," teased actress Annie Potts in an interview with Good Morning America.

After teasing Bo's highly anticipated return in Toy Story 4 last month, Disney and Pixar have released a brand new clip from the movie. It's actually a flashback sequence which explains why she's wearing her signature dress instead of the updated outfit we've seen in recent teasers and posters.

In any case, watch as Bo and Woody lead "Operation Pull Toy" to rescue a familiar toy.

Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley previously revealed that while Woody was with Andy, Bo took it upon herself "to head out into the world" for her own adventure. What she learned on the road remains to be seen and while it looks like she will have changed quite a bit since we last saw her in Toy Story 4, it appears from this clip that Bo has been way more awesome and capable than the previous movies let on. Toy Story 4 will seemingly just give her a proper chance to shine.

As a reminder, here's the synopsis for Toy Story 4, which includes an intriguing bit about Bo Peep's reunion with Woody.

Woody (Voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, & that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that's Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie's beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (Voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as "trash" & not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family's road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep ( Voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo's adventurous spirit & life on the road belie her porcelain exterior. As Woody & Bo realize they're worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that's the least of their worries.

Bo Peep returns to the big screen when Toy Story 4 hits theaters on June 21, 2019.

Interestingly, Annie Potts was hesitant when asked about the series wrapping up with this movie. "Well, who knows," she said, adding that she was even surprised when told about this one.

It's kinda odd how Bo Peep looks different? She looks more like a Barbie now, why?

Bo Peep is not the same character as before - she sounds constantly angry like she is going to punch someone. The idea of her and Woody mirroring actions could be taken as cute or potentially romantic if they wanted to go that route, but the voice acting ruins it by making Bo Peep seem confrontational and trying to upstage Woody.

A rumour a while ago was that Bo Peep had been replaced and that the replacement would be identical and the villain of the movie. I personally doubt this is the case, but her basically upstaging Woody feels like a mistep in regards to her character and the flow of the scene sort of slows to allow her the moment to take charge and lead while Woody looks confused and useless in the background.

Jessie i could understand doing this, but not Bo Peep - in fact, looking at the scene more it really feels like it was written for Jessie instead and they simply put Bo Peep in her place. The toys dont magically change personality depending on who the owner is, that's not what has been established, so the only reason for this change would be to push agendas.

Compare Bo Peep in Toy Story previously to Toy Story 4's clip;

@Scarilian - the bear from the third one had a drastic change to character which made him evil and bitter 🤷‍♂️

@Scarilian - Sure, it's done to push agendas, not to make the character interesting...

@bobevanz -
I think the main concern is that she has effectively become Jessie in regards to her characterisation. She is a rival leader to Woody and they did that plotline in Toy Story 2 - including the idea of the reasoning behind it being that they felt left by the original owner who in Jessie's case gave her to charity and in Bo Peep's case seemingly gave/sold her to a new owner.

@WakandanQueen -
The character was already interesting to begin with and had a lot of potential without having to retcon her into going on a self-proclaimed adventure that has toughened her up to the extent she is now a rival to Woody. As mentioned, Jessie serves that role.

Bo Peep's key traits were her affection for Woody, adult understanding of what was happening and her logical forward thinking approach. Some aspects were not emphasised as much, but you had everything needed for an interesting character - not to mention the added idea of Andy, a child into action role play, having a porcelain doll.

@Scarilian - You are absolutely ridiculous. I usually just lurk,but something needs to be addressed with you.

1. You're making this a bigger issue then what it is,and dragged it out pages upon pages

2.You are in great denial about being sexist, racist and xenophobic.

3. Lastly you probably haven't watched the other 3 movies in how long? Because everything you said about Bo peep is dead wrong. You need a refresher kiddo.

If a woman taking charge sounds "angry" to you,then I feel sorry for whatever weak and submissive woman is calling you her mate. lmaooo

Your observations are wrong. Bo peep isn't trying to upstage Woody at all. The moment was still adorable regardless,because it shows how in sync they are with each other.Also I dont know if you've noticed in the clip,but they are in Molly's room,which is Andy's little sister. If you watched this series growing up like the rest of us did,then you would know that Bo peep was originally Molly's doll. Andy just played with her because he didn't have any girl toys and he needed a damsel is distress for his playtime. When Andy's family moved into the new house at the end of the 1st movie, Molly finally got her own room. It would seem from this clip that just how Woody is in charge of Andy's toys and everything pertaining to his room,it seems like Bo is the head of Mollys room and gives out orders to the other dolls in there. So basically she is Woodys female equivalent leadership wise. She never took Jessie's roll,because Jessie is Andy's toy,not Molly's and Jessie is like Woodys sister,not love interest. Also they still dont have the same personality,because Jessie is much more hyper and tomboyish. Bo is very sassy,level headed and motherly. Giving commands like Bo did in this clip does NOT make her more masculine or "man like" at all. If thats the case then i wonder how did you view your mother? because im sure when you were a child she commanded you to do things and kept the house hold together. Some of you men really need to start thinking or proof reading your responses before posting,because ...sweetheart this isn't it.A lot of your assessment sounds like personal venting and diastase for confident female leads and you trying ot convince other men that there is an agenda of some sort. Basically summing my point up, Bo was a side character in the first two films,we saw glimpses of her personality,but not the whole thing, because she never had enough screen time. They aren't changing her,but merely adding on or should I say expanding what was already there. :/

Simple.

I am just sitting here in awe of how poorly Disney has done at making this feel like an event. Having Alladin, Lion King, Dumbo and TS4 in the same year was always a bad idea, but so far aside from Dumbo I haven't quite felt the full impact of any of them yet. This has been worst with TS4, which genuinely feels like a movie that doesn't really exist right now in any tangible sense

TyrantBossMedia and Scarilian seeing Bo Peep calmly and firmly taking charge of a single situation and immediately viewing it as "pushing an agenda" with an "angry" women (who expresses zero aggression or anger) is a great microcosm for how deeply seeded and coded sexism is in the geek community

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Join me next week where I explain to you how Brie Larson actually ISN'T going to destroy the patriarchy (that totes doesn't exist /s) with one film so you don't have to be constantly scared of her
