Avengers: Doomsday First Character Poster Sees Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Menace The Multiverse

The first character poster for Avengers: Doomsday may have been revealed, and it puts the spotlight squarely on Doctor Doom and his Sentinels as the villain prepares to battle the Multiverse's heroes.

As we head into November, Marvel Studios is expected to pull out all the stops by hyping up Avengers: Doomsday as the most must-see event of December (a title Dune: Part Three and, to a much lesser extent, Jumanji: Open World are vying for).

Fans have been demanding character posters for months, and the first of them has seemingly been spotted at a new Avengers: Doomsday activation in Japan.

As you can see below, Robert Downey Jr.'s Victor Von Doom is shown standing tall with the Sentinels looming large in the background. There had been speculation that Marvel Studios might try to sell everyone on Doom being an ally to the Multiverse's Mightiest Heroes in the movie (before a villainous twist), but it's apparent now that he's being openly sold as the biggest of big bads.

On a related note, it's been revealed today that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will air for the first time on ABC on Sunday, December 13. That's the last Sunday before Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters, and we'd bet on Marvel Studios doing something to promote the release, even if it's just a TV spot.

For now, this poster is an exciting start, especially if it leads to character posters spotlighting the members of the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four...and perhaps even a few surprise characters.

Check out this new Avengers: Doomsday poster in the X post below.

In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.

Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Mabel Cadena, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, India Rose Hemsworth, and Wesley Holloway all make their Avengers franchise debuts.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, joined by X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, plus Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18.

Jumanji: Open World will own December. Anyone thinking different is just ignorant 🤣🤣🤣

@TheFinestSmack -

You have to wonder how little faith they have in it, to dump it in a month already dominated by two juggernauts. If it didn't star ego personified and "I'm a meme, laugh with me" backstabber, I'd almost feel bad for them.

@TemporarilyHere - Yeah I can't figure it out. They have to know Rock isn't going to guarantee this thing even opens to $20 mil domestic. It's such a dumb move. Unless the movie has a Christmas theme and they backed themselves into a corner.

God , I think Doom has looked so good in all the promotional materials we have seen as of now…

I still have concerns about RDJ playing him in terms of implications about a possible connection to Tony Stark (which I don’t want) aswell Victor’s future in the MCU but I have liked the voice & presence that he and Marvel have conveyed so far thus I hope we finally get a good iteration of the character in live action!!.

Idk what it is but between the trailers and the promo art I'm not feeling anything for Doomsday. Going to see it with friends but not feeling this one it feels kind of forced still, and the teaser the other day with MLB was cringe af...

@SupermanFamFan - Yeah that's about where I am at. Nothing I have seen has made me hype in any way for this or Secret Wars.

@SupermanFamFan - I agree, and I will tell you what is keeping me apathetic: the excessive use of green screen and the same dark, cloudy skies with a little bit of sunshine peaking through. It reeks of redundancy and phoniness.

@GeneralZod - That's exactly it spot on!!! It's dreary and completely unappealing... The green screen especially seems super obvious, I don't remember the old Avenger movies being so bad looking.

@GeneralZod - I seriously believe the Russos directing will be the only good thing about this film, and Doom.

That being said, I'm sick of their dark ass atmosphere. I WANNA SEE SOME BLUE SKIES IN MY FINAL BATTLES

After Doom, Marvel has got to go with Apocalypse next. They fumbled Kang and despite Ultron having a bit of a resurgence in What if and Vision Quest, If won't top Doom. The only villain that I think who can command an entire saga is Apocalypse & Knull. But we know that Sony will not play nice with Knull.

@SonOfAGif - no they can still re-do Kang for sure. The general audience will hardly notice. A light retcon or something

@XelCorp - I think they should weave Kang into the Apocalypse Saga with Rama Tut playing a pivotal role in the past with En Sabah Nur and they use Kang as the catalyst for how Apocalypse acquired his tech.

the chairs event was the most exciting thing from the whole marketing campaign today. But that was last year.

everything since then has been...... meh, being 100% honest. It all feels unexciting, or lacking something (firstly A LOT of heroes)

@gambgel - then don't watch.

Can we get new scenery for the posters that isn’t just Doom in front of stained glassed, in his castle, or with Sentinels? They really are doing everything they can to hide as much as possible

@Kahron0 - why?

I would rather we watch anything new with Doom in theaters.
