Avengers Endgame: Encore MPA Film Rating Revealed - Here's How It Compares To The 2019 Version

Avengers Endgame: Encore arrives in theaters on September 24, with an additional four minutes of footage meant to set the stage for December's Avengers: Doomsday. It's now been rated by the MPA.

Avengers Endgame: Encore is just a couple of weeks away, and the MPA (Motion Picture Association) has just rated the movie. It likely won't surprise you to learn that, with only an additional 4 minutes added to its runtime, nothing has changed since the last time it was rated.

Still, if you're curious, the MPA has rated Avengers Endgame: Encore a PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and some language.

As September 25 draws closer, we'd bank on Marvel Studios pulling out all the stops to build excitement (so far, the marketing feels a little muted). At the very least, it would be wise to raise awareness about the planned Avengers: Doomsday sneak peeks, though early ticket sales have been strong regardless.

Avengers: Endgame's $2.799 billion global box office haul will almost certainly rise enough to dethrone Avatar's $2.923 billion record. Will it become the first blockbuster to reach $3 billion? That remains to be seen.

The big draw for most fans—beyond experiencing the movie on the big screen again—will be the aforementioned exclusive look at Avengers: Doomsday

An additional sneak peek at the film will also be available to audiences who see Avengers Endgame: Encore on IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens. One or both will likely be released online eventually, but not until this re-release has made its mark at the box office (based on what happened with the four Avengers: Doomsday teasers, they'll inevitably be leaked, regardless).

"It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame," Joe Russo previously teased.

"It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way, and because the movie was so successful, we have an opportunity to re-release it," he continued. "You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story: It’s a really unique opportunity."

Russo went on to describe the Avengers: Endgame re-release as a "critical companion story" and a "setup for what you’re gonna watch in December when you see Avengers: Doomsday."

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie features an epic ensemble which includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

"Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece which not only delivers on every expectation you had but exceeds ones you didn't even think about. This isn't just a movie, it's an experience," we wrote in our 2019 review of the movie.

Avengers Endgame: Encore arrives in theaters on September 25.
