Avengers: Endgame is the greatest superhero movie of all-time.

Fact.

While there are obviously a number of releases which are arguably worthy of that title, none of them are on par with what the Russo Brothers have done here. Aside from being a perfect ending to what's become known as "The Infinity Saga," Avengers: Endgame is a thrilling, emotional, action-packed rollercoaster chock full of memorable character moments and scenes which should be any comic book fan's dream come true to see brought to the big screen in a live-action setting.

It's hard to say much at all about the movie without giving something away you're better off not knowing before watching it for yourselves but rest assured that it delivers on all fronts. There are plenty of surprises, scenes which are destined to fill Top 10 lists breaking down the greatest ever sequences in comic book movies, and stellar performances which will ensure you fall in love with these characters all over again. Singling out someone for stealing the show is hard to do when everyone is on top form but the undeniable highlights have to be Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Ronin), and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk). The latter steals the show in terms of humour and while things do get dark at times, the levity is much appreciated but never turns the superhero ensemble into a comedy.

Josh Brolin's Thanos isn't quite the tour de force he was in Avengers: Infinity War as he takes on the role of a pretty typical bad guy in some ways here. However, he had his time to shine last year and the sequel belongs to Earth Mightiest Heroes. Captain America was shortchanged last time around but gets plenty of screentime here. Fans of new MCU addition, Captain Marvel, may end up feeling somewhat disappointed that she doesn't play a larger role in proceedings but it was a smart move to focus on the original six Avengers.

Regardless of whether you look at Avengers: Endgame as the end of a story of the beginning of a new one (and it serves as both in many ways), it succeeds and that three-hour runtime flies by. There's no way it could or should have been any shorter and, if anything, I would have happily sat there for another thirty minutes if it meant spending more time in this world with these characters. The movie is a rousing success, a game-changer for the genre, and an adventure it's hard to imagine Marvel ever topping. However, with Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios, you know they'll do their damnedest to try.

Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece which not only delivers on every expectation you had but exceeds ones you didn't even think about. This isn't just a movie, it's an experience.

It was a triumph on so many levels. They took a lot of chances with this script and it all paid off for the most part. I have some questions about some of the plot points, but they can be explained I think.

@BruceParker - If Lords Of The Rings could win best picture you never know. Although I think its very unlikely, nothing to do with the films quality, but best picture tends to go to films like crime dramas, holocaust films, slavery films, or something to do with racism, it occasionally happens, but the big blockbusters rarely win. Although this year we may have a contender

if its as good as it looks, id say it has a good chance, at least a better chance than endgame. Not saying it will be better than endgame, but it seems more like something that they would be willing to nominated,

This movie is a masterpiece.
I don't give a shit about the cynics trying to downplay just what an incredible feat this film has achieved. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me mourn, affecting me in a way very, very few films have.

This film is not just my favourite superhero film, it's also one of my all-time favourite films of all time. The moments this movie has. Oh my god. Never walked out of a theatre feeling this much elation before.

@Murdock857859 -

Agreed, the movie is great, though I still have some minor issues with it. But what a great movie, epic and emotional, and what a perfect ending.

My only issues are with the inconsistencies the movie creates (the fans are sure to debate about it for some time), a woman empowerement moment which I found unnecessary and poorly executed, and the character of Captain Marvel (I've not seen her solo movie but here she is pretty inlikeable).

For me not to see other faults in the movie, it's actually a remarquable achievement. I love it, very entertaining, very epic, and there are tons of emotional moments that all works, while many characters are portrayed at their best in Endgame. I'll go as far as to say that Karen Gillan might deserve awards for her performance.

Endgame is the definition of a culmination film. So many incredible call backs and it is so so satisfying if you have followed the MCU from the very start. The scale is epic and the Russos have done an outstanding job.

I have so many questions and I am still trying to make sense of some things that happened, but overall what an end to an amazing journey. Make mine Marvel.

This hyperbole of "Greatest CBM of all-time" needs to subside. I will be FASCINATED with how the conversation will change 6 months from now (which it will). It's all subjective of course, but man, with everything in the pantheon of CBM's, I don't feel like this is numero uno. It's a GREAT flick, but there's certainly an argument that Infinity War is better.
