AVENGERS: SECRET WARS: Rumored Details On Two Major MCU Returns Revealed - SPOILERS

Two characters we haven't seen since the events of a certain 2021 blockbuster are expected to return for Avengers: Secret Wars, and we may have some minor details on the roles they'll play...

Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a jam-packed movie, but if even half of what we've heard about Marvel Studios' plans for Secret Wars proves to be accurate, Doomsday's roster of heroes and villains will pale in comparison to the Multiverse Saga finale's lineup.

Possible spoilers ahead.

Though their big-screen return as their respective takes on Spider-Man was originally supposed to be a one-off, the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home reportedly led to Marvel/Sony making plans for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to swing back into the MCU.

Previous rumors claimed that Sony originally wanted both actors in Brand New Day before Kevin Feige stepped in. Whether this is accurate or not, Maguire's Spidey is rumored to appear in Doomsday, and MTTSH believes that they will both feature in Avengers: Secret Wars.

According to the scooper, Maguire and Garfield's Peter Parkers will "be separated" this time, and the latter will "get to fight an alien."

There are obviously an infinite number of alien races that could feature in Secret Wars, but there's already speculation that this might refer to the Venom Symbiote.

MTTSH is also claiming that Sadie Sink, who is most likely playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be the main character in Marvel's Mutant Saga (no major surprise there).

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were hit with significant delays last year, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves”, said The Russos in a statement after the SDCC panel.

Doomsday will star:

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Florence Pugh as Yelena, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, and Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent

Along with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Would love for sink to be playing an amalgam of Hope and Rachel with Brolin’s Cable and Cyclops showing up together in secret wars.

@SummersEssex - I feel like it would be weird to introduce mutant characters from the future before even having a lot of the present day ones.

After the 2 big team up movies, the important thing will be what they come out with after that.

The Fox men movies had their ups and downs, but the casting for the first 4 movies was excellent for the most part. The question is: Will we get the X-Men from the comics or a twisted Hollywood agenda version of them for the future.

If they screw up Spider-Man and the X-Men, the MCU will slowly crash and burn.

@DocSpock - Agreed. And unfortunately my guess it will be like the last F4. Some nice stuff but just the amount of dumb crap to prevent it being great.

@DocSpock - If they screw this up, it won't be a slow crash and burn...

@Fogs -

Yeah. I liked most of FF, but I was expecting greatness after all the hype, and I didn't get it.

You may very well be right.

Jackman, Stewart, McKellen, Jannsen, Berry, Marsden, Romijn. They are going to have a hard time matching that lineup.

@HashTagSwagg @Mrcool210 - We may be confusing "No Way Home" with "Brand New Home" and "Far From Back"

Making Jean the center of the new X-men movie is smart. She has the broadest arc, and the best stories and characters from the comics revolve around her. They need to keep dark Phoenix on a shelf tho. I think even light Phoenix should wait until after the first trilogy

So Jean Grey/PHOENIX will be the focus of the next SAGA. I wonder what you could call a Saga like that. The Jean Grey Saga maybe or...

I would be so happy if none of these rumors end up true. It would kill rumor culture in one pass lol.

Interesting if true that Garfield & Maguire’s Spider-Men are separated in SW and the former fights an alien…

It’s likely some other species or race but if it is a symbiote then it would be cool imo if Holland’s Spidey is also with him so it then becomes this suspenseful thing in which we try to figure out which one it will attach itself to until it does so with MCU Peter which could then lead to Spider-Man 5 & perhaps beyond.

Also in regards to Sadie’s Jean (if that is who she is in BND) being the main character of the Mutant Saga then I don’t mind since she’s a good actress and fits the character imo …

However I would hope then that Cyclops has close to, if not just as big of a role then as Jean since he’s a great character that deserves the chance to shine which he never really got in the Fox films imo!!.

God forbid Cyclops get to be the main character in an X-Men franchise.

Can we actually hear about the return of a character that actually debuted AFTER ENDGAME for once?

Can the next Spider-man be sub-titled "Snow Day" (which for southern folks, is a common term for cancelled school days for winter snow/ice storms). He can end up in Canada and come across the MCU's new Wolverine for some reason.
