AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY Writer Reveals Whether The X-MEN Will Appear In Upcoming Event Movie

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has all the makings of another epic MCU movie, but will there be room for the X-Men to make their debut? Here's what writer Jeff Loveness had to say about the possibility...

Doing the rounds to promote Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Jeff Loveness recently suggested he has no plans to include Phase 5 characters like Blade and the Fantastic Four in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Marvel's First Family not factoring into the story has disappointed many fans, but this is an Avengers movie, not a Fantastic Four one! There's plenty of time for team-ups down the line, and Loveness has now made it clear The Kang Dynasty won't be where we meet the X-Men for the first time.

Talking on the Phase Zero podcast, he explained: "No, I think all that stuff is pretty far away. I mean, I know they’re making Fantastic Four, but that’s its own thing. So, no, I mean, look, I’m the biggest X-Men guy in the world...No, no, no. I think that’s being saved for a bit."

"But, you know, these Avengers are in trouble," Loveness continued. "They got a lot going on with Kang. They got more than enough to handle."

Throwing the X-Men into the mix here wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, though we do expect some mutant Variants - Deadpool and Wolverine, for example - to factor into either this movie or Avengers: Secret Wars

Assuming the latter ends with the creation of a new MCU, it's possible the X-Men will just be retconned into existence. Then again, with characters like Ms. Marvel and Namor officially dubbed "mutants" in recent stories, there's a chance Marvel Studios is taking a slow-burn approach to their introduction, with the X-Gene only now beginning to activate in teenagers.

We'll have to wait and see, but if a future set of Phases aren't eventually dubbed "The Mutant Saga," we'll definitely be surprised because there are countless stories that can now be told in the MCU.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.

I'm glad they waiting with introducing the X-Men. Even if it's just the movie leads, Kang Dynasty is gonna be crowded. And throw in the tv characters, the sidekicks and all the variants into Secret Wars, there really isn't room for new characters imo.

I'm patient here, and they have a lot of storytelling to get through before we even get to The Kang Dynasty. No need to rush the X-Men into the picture. I think we have to at least wait until Deadpool 3 to get an idea if the X-Men are likely to show up. Some will for sure; we've already got Xavier, Deadpool and Wolverine, and a bastardized Quicksilver.

I'm talking two different things. Older cast(s), we're certainly gonna see a few more familiar faces. New X-Men cast for the MCU, I think we may see some, but vith all the variant shenanigans they have all the room to test castings and re-cast if something doesn't work.

@MosquitoFarmer -
Patience is one thing, but it's going to be like 20 years from when the MCU started before they are even introduced. I'm not really sure I'd want to spend another 5-10 waiting for them to do a team-up movie and I doubt they'll have any interactions with the characters I care/cared about from Infinity Saga.

@Scarilian - That's not the fault of Marvel Studios. They got the rights from Fox when they did, but they've been building longer term plans well before that. There is some wiggle room for changes and additions (like adding familiar faces from the X-Men films we've seen), but introducing the nex X-Men is clearly a tall order they can't just shove in the middle of their plans.

feel like destin daniel cretton might bring his own writer on board for this and it gets a rewrite closer to production. shang-chi is still the best marvel project in ages, so his involvement gives me hope in this & wonder man

I'm convinced we get a close on the mcu, and then maybe a soft reboot where the main focus is mutants and the x-men. It's really hard to have someone like Magneto show up rn, most of these characters needs years of backstory and it would be impossible to do so in the current universe. I'd be fine if they reboot it in a way that mutants are the main focus, but you can still have spidey and the rest of them still around. All I'm saying it make it separate, or make it the main focus

@bobevanz - but don't just tack it onto the current mcu universe, of course that's what they'll probably do. And this clown be stay far away, hopefully he's doing a big rewrite for kings Dynasty, and get a second opinion on everything

I'm already tired of hearing about this guy and Kang. Hopefully they're done with Kang in the next one. Thanos, he is not.

Ah, Loveness.
Writer of Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

I just got around to watching Quantumania, yesterday. I remember when I was at every MCU movie opening day, smh...

I nearly didn't go at all. It'll be on Disney+ before you know it. I wen t for one reason and one reason only. To see Pfieffer back on the big screen in a superhero movie. And I made the right choice. She was definitely the best thing about that movie.

The 'Wasp' in the title was def referring to Janet. It certainly wasn't Hope, she barely had anything to do in the movie.

I didn't think it was as bad a movie as people are making out. Pfieffer was SO good. And Murray really good too, for what little time he had. Really layered performance.

But the script, like most Marvel movies these days was utter trash.

It went by really fast, so maybe I missed something, but how the F did Hank, Janet and Hope understand what people were saying without drinking that ooze shit that Scott and Cassie drank?

@ObserverIO - At the bar they drank something right before Bill Murray showed up.

I also watched it just to see Michelle in a super hero role again and that I did love seeing. So I was watching it more as a Michelle Pfeifer movie then an Ant-Man one and it's more enjoyable that way to watch imo. Still a terribly disappointing movie and I've lost interest in Kang moving forward and the writing really let her down especially with the whole "gotta keep the secret for no reason" thing.

@WarMonkey - I thought it might have been a drink at the bar. I guess I wasn't paying much attention.

I also have lost some interest in Kang too, but Marvel seem to be going forward him as the main villain of both Kang Dynasty and even Secret Wars if rumors are to be believed.

And of course they're keeping the writer too, smh. Because he did such a great job on Quantumania lol.

Anyone else notice that the “so much winning “ guy has become a lurker instead of commenting since around the time that it was clear Quantumania was tanking at the box office?

Really feels like they're saving X-Men as an ace in the hole. Like, they're waiting until the MCU interest wains a little and then they can bust out the X-Men card to just interest back up. Smart...I guess.

Kevin Feige can't change Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or The Marvels or Loki season 2.

But he has to keep an eye on how unliked "Quantumania" is and he really needs to course-correct.

There needs to be a writers room for the next Kang appearance after Loki Season 2.

I am a hardcore Marvel fan and even i have zero intetest in Kang after Ant-Man 3.

The X-men roster is vast... i can see them peppered into many movies with individual cameos... and not getting a team up movie until something big happens... maybe bigger than Kang. After all, Wolverine and Deadpool are coming for sure and we already got Xavier so who knows who else might pop up.
