MARVEL'S AVENGERS Release On PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series X Delayed; Will Now Debut In 2021

Those of you excited to playing Marvel's Avengers on the next generation of consoles in time for Christmas are likely to be disappointed because it's now been confirmed the remaster is running late.

We have some disappointing news to share with you today as it's been confirmed that the planned release of Marvel's Avengers on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X has now been delayed.

The original plan was for them to be available in time for the launch of both next generation consoles next month. You'll still be able to play the title thanks to backwards compatibility options, but that free upgrade won't be available until 2021 (and right now, we don't even know when that will be).

Scot Amos, the studio head at Crystal Dynamics, confirmed the news earlier today

"We’ve also made the decision to shift our PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launch to next year to ensure that we give our team the time to deliver a next-gen experience showcasing all that this game is meant to be," he explained. "More details to come."

"Until then, however, you’ll be able to continue playing the current-gen (PS4/Xbox One) Marvel’s Avengers game on next-gen platforms to take advantage of their powerful hardware, be it via inserting a physical disk or redownloading the game," he continued. "Two of the most obvious benefits of this are improved frame rates and faster loading times."

"In addition, players who make the jump to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will still be able to play co-op with their friends on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively as well as carry their existing save-game forward to the next-generation of consoles!"

It's not all bad then, but it's been something of a rocky road for Marvel's Avengers from the start, so we probably shouldn't be too surprised that there's now a delay. On the plus side, the single-player campaign is a blast, and you can check out our review of that by clicking here
