Chris Hemsworth Talks The Avengers

The LATimes got the chance to sit down with Chris Hemsworth and discuss his thoughts on 'The Avengers' and what aspect of the movie he's most looking forward too, as well as what the chances are of seeing Cap and Thor face off...

Geoff Boucher over at The LATimes recently sat down with Thor star Chris Hemsworth and they discussed if we'll see Cap and Thor clash in The Avengers, how he feels about working again with director Joss Whedon, and what aspect of The Avengers is he most excited for.

On If We'll See Thor's Hammer Hit Captain America's Shield:
“I’m sure that’s up there on the list of possibilities, that would be something to see at some point,” the star of “Thor” said cryptically when asked if his character might tussle with Captain America in the classic Marvel tradition of superhero sparring. “I’ve thought about that too.”

What He Thinks About Thor And Captain America: TFA Facing Off In The Box Office:
“I have brothers so I know about competing with someone at the same time you’re cheering for them,”

What He's Most Excited For
“Jeremy, Chris Evans, Scarlett, Mark Ruffalo, all of them, wow, it’s going to be fun,” said Hemsworth, who before “Thor” was best known to American audiences for a fleeting appearance in the J.J. Abrams “Star Trek” film. “I really feel like a fan in all of this because I’ve seen all these individual characters come to life. Now to throw them together, you feel like a kid in a way, there’s really a giddy feeling. I’m looking forward to being in a room with not just those actors but those characters, these larger-than-life characters, and seeing how that turns out. I want to see how Captain America and Thor and Iron Man react to one another.”

How He Feels About Working With Joss Whedon On The Avengers:
I’ve worked with Joss on ‘Cabin in the Woods’ — he wrote it with Drew Goddard and Drew directed but Joss was on set and very collaborative with ideas, so I got a sense of his personality and who he was. So I feel less cautious now, knowing him and really liking him. I’m really excited to work with Joss and to see where he takes Thor and all of the Marvel characters.”

I was wondering if Jeremy has a stunt double for THOR. When he runs out with the bow, he looks kinda slow. If he's going to be in the Bourne films, he'll have to step it up. Matt Damon had to sprit in those films.

Off topic, I know. THOR is awesome. There we go. Back on track.

It's odd how everyone wants to see The Avengers fighting eachother before fighting a villain (me included), yet I don't think half as many people would want to see the Justice League fighting if they got a movie.

I better see Hulk pick up Mjolnir and fling it at Thor, that one scene alone would make the movie for me!!!!!!!

Aren't Thor and Captain like BBFS?

I know Iron Man and Cap butt heads a lot though.

@Assassin666... I don't believe Hulk will pick up Mjolnir, BUT... early word is that Cap will pick it up briefly in order to save Thor's life...

Thor won't battle Cap... Cap and Iron Man get into a brief tussle... HOWEVER... Thor and Hulk will definitely face off at the the end of Act I/beginning of Act II...

Reportedly, by the movie's end, Thor will have a great deal of respect for all his teammates... but he will especially respect Cap... so much so that Thor will tell Cap that he considers him to be a great warrior... second only to Odin... and that he (Thor) will follow his (Cap's) command anytime, anyplace...

When does Chris start shooting for Avengers? I hope to see him clean shaved in it, i loved the beard in THOR. Actually, Shaved or even more of a beard.

Mjolnir hitting Caps shield could be done as an accident, like cap getting in the way of THOR throwing it at some badguys as it bowls through them. They need to make THOR seem more powerful, in my head if he were to hit Ironman in the chest with Mjolnir, he would cave in his chest.

And i wish all haters would just not bother coming here anymore.

CorndogBurglar - 5/12/2011, 4:53 AM
who wants to see Cap and Thor fight? It wouldn't even be a fight. Thor would spank Cap with very little effort.
mikefont
mikefont - 5/12/2011, 5:43 AM
I agree with you Zombie137. While Thor seemed powerful enough with Mjolnir, I wanted to see some of his brute strength. I was hoping that his fight with the Destroyer would have been similar to the Hulk/Abomination fight with Thor slamming cars upside the Destroyers head and stuff, instead of solely relying on Mjolnir.
Hopefully, we'll get to see some of that brute strength in the Avengers...Thor & Hulk going at it big time would be SOOOO awesome!
And @ assasin666, there is NO WAY that the Hulk will pick up Mjolnir...he CANNOT! If they do that, that will blow any credibility in the movie, just like how "Superman Returns" blew it when Superman lifts up an island made of Kryptonite! Complete BS!

I don't want to see every single character fight each other like a tournament or something.

If they fall for that we'll see another XMO: Wolverine, where they fought for no reason.

Everybody X Hulk is enough.

I think when thay first meet as a team it should be like the avenger's cartoon movie where they introduce Cap as a member and nobody take's him serious. Nick fury will tell the team that Cap will be the leader' but Tony say's hell no he should be the leader and then Hawkeye chime's in and say's this dude's to old or something smartass like that. Then Thor come's in say's " stay thy tounge Hawkeye if this is trueley the great worrior of earth that the allfather ODIN has told the story of then we shall pay him the upmost respect." The Hulk has to try to pick up the hammer . But when he can't pick it up, it send's him into even more of a rage. In the final battle it should be Cap and Thor and Cap get's seperated from his sheild and thor get's blasted by a Skrull cannon and then overwelmed by hundereds of Skrull's. So Cap feel's helpless at that moment but remember's Thor telling him that only someone worthy can lift the hammer, so he pick's it up and use's it to destroy some doomsday machine. Sorry for going on for so long sometime's im a real super geek.

THORION76 - 5/12/2011, 8:05 AM
I THINK THOR KNOWING OF CAP ALREADY WOULD BE COOL PART OF THE MOVIE.EVEN THOUGH THOR DID'NT CARE ABOUT THE LITTLE PEOPLE (OF EARTH) ODIN COULD BE TELLING HIM STORIE'S OF THE OTHER REALM'S TRYING SHOW HIM RESPECT FOR ALL LIFE. AT SOMETIME IN THE MOVIE HAWKEYE SHOULD SAY TO THOR " HEY GOLDYLOCK'S I SHOULD HAVE PUT A HOLE IN YOU WHEN I HAD A CHANCE".
VictorHugo
VictorHugo - 5/12/2011, 10:14 AM
Thor should hug Cap and offer him beer, just like in the animated movie "Ultimate Avengers".
