HQ Scans From The Avengers EW Feature; Kevin Feige Says No Other Heroes Will Cameo!

Revealing a few new details from The Avengers (although Marvel Studios still refuse to reveal the identity of the mysterious alien invaders) here are a full set of scans from the Entertainment Weekly feature...

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel’s The Avengers" is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

As you can see above, Feige himself says that: "We didn't want to make a big mess. They don't walk through the S.H.I.E.L.D commissary and see another 20 superheroes." Hmm...well, I'd say that we can now definitely kiss goodbye to the chances of seeing a sneaky cameo from Ant-Man and Wasp. On the other hand, this is Marvel Studios we're talking about, so they're not going to spill the beans at this point! Hell, they still won't reveal who the aliens are or if they are actually aliens. Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: May 4th, 2012. (US)

It'd be overkill man. All in due time I suppose

@TheQuestion
I agree, but I'm okay with that. You don't want to have a movie filled with other heroes that will clutter the film.

I gotta get this.. I still can't believe this is actually happening!

Slow and steady. I like Marvels plan. You will see all the heroes in due time.

Man, this is gonna be incredibly awesome! And just as I thought, they're borrowing a little bit from just about everything Marvel from at least, the last 2 decades! Even that commercial where Spidey, Ironman & Hulk team up to fight those giant robots...I recall from that commercial when Ironman's armor had to "reboot", and he was falling to earth from space. And just before he hit the ground, he was caught in mid air by the Hulk!

And as far as cameos actually, Mr. Feige didn't say VILLAINS...he said HEROES...So, who knows? Maybe there is a small Thanotic chance that some well deserved VILLAIN might show up!

I just wanna see this badboy when it comes out!

thats alright, since they wont end up taking up precious screen time off the main hero characters, plus u knw they r gonna put in a sht load of easter eggs i.e. random documents laying around, class 7 shield files on furys or hills computer systems, artifacts or object, mentioning of a name or city, map and what have u. hopefully the movie is 3hrs fingers crossed...touch wood.

may 4, huh..?? i hope that won't be TOO EARLY to getting a large audience for the opening. i really want this movie to topple the likes of Avatar and Titanic, which i don't believe DESERVE to being the biggest money maker movies of all time, in the u.s. AND globally.

the one that truly deserves, for me, is The Lord of the Rings trilogy...but, oh well...

What's up with Banners bio up there. "Hit by gamma rays in a super soldier experiment gone wrong"??? They warping his origin for this movie or did the mag mix things all up?
EarOne
EarOne - 9/30/2011, 4:56 AM
hey, seriously...it still could be interpreted as we WON'T be seeing other known characters AS super heroes..like, say...Janet might be a SHIELD genetic technician working close under Fury's supervision. or Prince T'Challa's (sans Black Panther's costume) on the news at his father's funeral, or something. or, maybe Sam Wilson showing up as a pilot or a special ops guy...i mean, there's a lot of ways in doing cameos (for the fans) without overstuffing the movie with super heroes.

if they do these cameos with quite well known actors, then that would just be BONUSES for the general (non-fan) audience. it won't feel like they gotta branch out the focal point to even more super hero characters.

@Deschain get it right Banner looks like a angry gay flirty klingon that has that disease where they lose the forehead prostetics.

If you ask me Panther being active in a super team outside of Africa always seemed highly irresponsible. He completely neglects his own country and responsibilies so he can run around and say look at me I can run about punching bad guys in New York

Under "What's Next for Marvel" they have IM3 and Thor 2 but not Captain America sequel. Is that just because it has not be announced?

I still hope for a cameo anyway.. and be surprised!

Like you see Spiderman just swinging by in the back of one of the shots... and nobody comments...

or the Fantastic Four car fly by... or a long blue arm reaching from one building to the next as the camera pans by a building that "looks like" the Baxter building...

or Waldo. where is he anyway?
JackBauer
JackBauer - 9/30/2011, 5:46 AM
There will be small, brief cameos that won't take away from the movie for the general audience but will make us jizz in our pants.

I believe the SHIELD/NASA facility is going to be Project Pegasus as I've stated before.

There was the rumor that Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter in the Bond films) was in Cleveland for a week at the same time they were filming at the NASA facility. I believe he's playing Bill Foster, aka Goliath. Although he will most likely just be a scientist at the facility.

I also believe the rumor of Kevin Pennington playing Wendall Vaughn is true. Wendall Vaughn is Quasar, and was also the head of security at Project Pegasus at one point.

We may not get a cameo of Hank and Jan, but I believe these others will be in the film.

I dont mind about the cameos but i would like them to at least mention someone with abilities or something they have to look into hinting at some future superheroes

Just gotta say how awesome articles like this are on this site. To think somebody goes to the effort of buying, scanning & posting the CBM part of the EW issue for us all to enjoy here for free.
In the 90s we had to read this stuff in the shop or buy it ourselves!

Thanks, JoshW!
