Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Takes "Pride" In Getting Certified Fresh Plaques From Rotten Tomatoes

Over the past ten years, Marvel Studios has only released two movies which weren't Certified Fresh by Rotten Tomatoes and Kevin Feige has now weighed in on how he feels about the opinions of critics...

Marvel Studios has released seventeen films over the past decade and not a single one of those movies has been giving a "Rotten" score by Rotten Tomatoes. Only The Incredible Hulk (67%) and Thor: The Dark World (66%) haven't been Certified Fresh but both were deemed "Fresh" based on critic reviews.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked if it bothers him that some critics have started turning on movies set in the MCU and after answering in the affirmative, he made it clear the studio takes pride in receiving Certified Fresh plaques from the review aggregator. "We always want those Rotten Tomatoes-certified fresh plaques, right? We’re not going to get many other kinds of awards, but we take great pride in them. I’m always saying, ‘Ryan [Stankevich, Disney Publicity], where’s our Rotten Tomato?’ Because Rotten Tomatoes are great."

"They send this little Lucite, certified, fresh thing with the name of the movie on it," Feige continued. "We got them lined up around here. We take pride in it. There are cases where audiences and critics are not aligned. But I think, for the most part, they are, and I like it when people like our movies."

That's a winning attitude and one which has helped Marvel Studios achieve a great deal of success over the years, success which doesn't look like it's going away any time soon. What do you guys think?

@ForDarkseid - For whatever reason I have never been able to enjoy DOFP. I know it has great reviews and people love it but it always seemed so bang average to me. I like the cast (except Mystique), I like the comic run but I just can't get into the movie at all.

He definetely deserves all the praise. One can only wonder how Marvel Movies would have been if he wasnt there

@MeAreLegend - They would be managed by Pelmutter and Buck would be the architect. As much as i love Marvel tv overall, i don't want Pelmutter or Loeb anywhere near the movies.

@Jeight8 - I agree that marvel TV has made mistakes like hiring Scott Buck twice. But, and it is a big but, he also brought us Daredevil, Punisher, Kingpin, Jessica Jones, Agent Carter, Luke cage, Elektra, the Purple Man, Iron Fist (ish), Misty Knight, Colleen Wing ......

Agent's Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the most creative and best written 22 episode comic book show out there and has improved every single season.

Runaways while not for everyone (due to it being a teen orientated show) is being well received and is a good adaptation from the comics.

Overall Loeb has done a very good job - dismissing all the good because of Scott Buck lead shows is a mistake.

@hummingbird68 - I agree that Loeb has done a great job overall but there is tendency of Marvel tv to downplay the comic book elements of their shows. They are afraid to embrace them. That's why i wouldn't want Loev on the movies.

@MeAreLegend - if Fox had wanted to embrace his x-men universe idea we might not have got him with the MCU at all.

But, but DC fans preach that RT is trash and a tool for propaganda!!

Except WW. They had no problem with the movie getting great reviews......

@Jeight8 - I don't think anyone knows what DCEU fanatics stand for for sure. They flip flop all the time.

Expecting some incoming butthurt...

This comment made me laugh though. Feige is the man. What he's managed to achieve with the MCU is unprecedented, and it seems they're not slowing down either.
