The Avengers was probably one of the most anticipated films of the last four years, along with "The Dark Knight Rises". So how was it handled? Was it handled with care and precision? The answer is a very simple syllable......... Not as it could have been. While I myself enjoyed the movie for the most part, a lot of it I felt very "eh" about.
My first complaint would be the Cinematography. It certainly wasn't the worst I've seen (the last 20 minutes of "2012") It wasn't any Wally Pfister or Amir Mokri. I really felt like I was watching a T.V. movie, which we were warned about before hand, I didn't think it would really "look like a T.V. movie." For me it was most noticeable in the beginning scene with Hill and Fury, the same one Cobie Smulders showed on that talk show.
My second complaint would be the obscene amount of humor every two minutes. Most people say they were watching it with a grin across their face, that's probably becase there was a joke every two seconds. It really took away from my experience of seeing it as an action movie and leaned toward more of an action-comedy. There is such a thing as comedic relief, but its another thing when there is always a joke for everything that could have happened. I mean did we really need a naked Bruce Banner scene?
As far as story goes its very straightforward in what happens. Bad guy shows up, heroes must stop bad guy. But what makes this so special is the way the heroes interact with each other. Befor you can be a team, you must fight each other. And that is one thing I hope Warner Bros. takes away from this. How cool would a Superman-Batman showdown be half way through the movie?
Action is top notch, as with all Marvel movies.
I give this Movie a 4 out 5 just because I felt like it didn't take itself too seriously with all the humor.
