It has previously been reported that Scarlet Johansson (The Black Widow) has a planned Avengers promotional trip to India coming up in April. It has also been reported that Robert Downey Jr. who we all know is portraying Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the highly anticipated film, will not be accompanying her on this trip.

Now, Mid-Day.com is reporting that Disney India is planning to have Downey's Iron Man armor arrive at around the same time as Johansson ( sometime between April 19th and the 25th). The plan is to have the armor auctioned off in either Delhi or Mumbai sometime prior to the release of The Avengers. At this time, there is no word or speculation as to how much someone may end up paying for the armor..

How much do you think Iron Man's armor will bring in at auction? If you had the cash, would you be willing to spend it on a film prop like this?

The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson is set for release this May.

There are various different armours for various shoots.

A highly detailed metal one for close-ups.

One with key joint parts missing or made out of flexible rubber so that dramatic poses can be achieved.

One for comfort and that is so minimal almost all of the detailed work is cgi's on-top in post production.

If you think some Indian is going to get a bargain-basement shot at a fully detailed IronMan cossie think again!, It'll look crap in-person and not half as impressive as it does on film.

I'm surprised that its not offered straight to the usual auction collectable sites though that pay through the nose to grab these collectables off the sets then put ridiculous prices on them.
Maybe they just wanted not to curry favor. ^^
