Variety have posted an article detailing Disney's earnings and expectations over the last year and the coming one. In it Disney chief Bob Iger reveals that Disney are very keen to turn Joss Whedon's upcoming superhero team up movie into a "franchise", hoping for not only sequels but spinoff movies too.
From Variety..
Iger was "excited" about the studio's upcoming pics, which include the "Muppet Movie," "The Avengers," "John Carter," "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," "Wreck-It Ralph" and "Brave." Disney will promote the titles Aug. 19-21 at the D23 Expo, held at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Iger was especially high on the prospects of "The Avengers" turning into another "franchise" for Disney, leading to its own sequels and spinoffs after next year's pic hits theaters.
Like I said, I'm sure most felt at least one sequel to
The Avengers had a good chance of happening once the movie performed but at least now we know that Disney want to keep on milking the movie for all it's worth. Not that I'm complaining! So what are the possibilities for future movies? What kind of spinoffs are likely? We have heard word of a solo Black Widow movie, could a Hawkeye one follow suit?
