The Hulk In The Avengers Will Look Like The One In "The Incredible Hulk"?

The Hulk In The Avengers Will Look Like The One In "The Incredible Hulk"?

For those who didnt like how the Hulk looked like in the Avengers poster, this may be great news!

Brett Buckalew from Hollywood.com wrote an article about the footage of the Avengers from D23. It really wasnt anything new untill I got to the end of the article where he said this:

"With Stark's quip providing an appropriate introduction, the crowd at the D23 Expo was then treated to the first shot anyone anywhere has seen of this movie's CGI-animated take on the Not-So-Jolly Green Giant. And so I'm in the privileged position of sharing that the Hulk featured in The Avengers lookswell, actually he looks exactly like the version of the character on view in 2008's Edward Norton-starring Marvel production The Incredible Hulk, albeit with much fiercer eyes. Given the highly anticipated nature of this project, though, expect those angry eyes to be the subject of fierce online debate over the next few days."

I liked both looks of the Hulk so I dont mind either way. Another interesting note to take out of this is when he said "expect those angry eyes to be the subject of fierce online debate over the next few days." Could that mean the footage will be released even when Fiege said it wouldnt?

What do you guys think of this?

I liked the 2008 movie a lot, and I really wanted Ed Norton to come back. It's nice to know that at least basically the same CGI version of the Green Monster will be back.

@MovieMaster- Yeah, I liked both looks too but this will be good news for the people who didnt like the new look.

Now that's pretty odd, since Kevin Fiege (or someone else) said that the Hulk in the character poster is a good representation of what he'll look like in The Avengers. Oh well, I prefer the TIH look anyways. :D
Good find Booyah.

The one thing I didn't like about the 2008 film was the look of the Hulk. He had Popeye arms with his forearm muscles being larger than his upper arms Biceps/Triceps muscles. He also had VERY shiney, rubbery, Zuchinni looking skin.

No thanks.

Don't care if the Hulk looks "good" or "ugly". Long as I get to see the Hulk cut loose, doesn't matter if he looks like TIH version or this new version.

@nailbier111- They didnt show any new footage of the Hulk? Are you sure? I thought the roar at the end was of the new Hulk.

From what I've read of the coverage of D23, the last shot in the clip is The Hulk roaring so the fact that it looks like The Hulk from the 2008 movie doesn't mean that's what he'll look like in the Avengers movie. That little piece could have actually been lifted from the 2008 movie and placed in the Avengers clip. More than likely they haven't even started doing the CGI yet because the movie isn't finished filming yet. The Avengers Hulk could still end up looking very different.

I don't mind either way really... but I bet with him making the statement that it'll be subject to online debate soon, means that we'll probably get a shortened version of the trailer shown at D23

@nailbiter- Well, he says that the crowd was treated to the very first shot of the new Hulk. Maybe they saw a new picture.
BooYah

Plus he mentions the eyes are different so it must be a new pic. He could be possesed by Loki and his eyes are red maybe?

Well it doesnt really matter... the nature of Hulk's powers make his look and body shape changeable and if the banner looks different then the hulk should too.

If Rhodey can get blacker and thinner within six months then this wont bother me.

I thought there were individual elements of both Hulks that were very good, but, neither on has "nailed" it. And that is very frustrating to me being a big-time Hulk fan. The first Hulk's head/face was too thick and his fingers were too much like dough, but, I liked his movement. The second Hulk's fingers were much better, but, he was waaaaaaaayyyy too cut and bumpy all over, and his waist and face looked weird although his overall proportions were a bit better than the first. That being said, I SINCERELY hope that they get very, VERY close to the Avenger's Promo art of the Hulk (as shown above). I think it captures very well both a realism and the feel of the comic versions of the Hulk best!

Oh, and the 20 foot tall version of the Hulk from the first was a definite mistake...sorry Ang.

I really, really hope they use the design of the HULK from TIH; it was PERFECT. It just needed better VFX, especially skin texturing, to look more real.
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 8/22/2011, 5:00 PM
Yeah, they may have just cut a snippet in from The Incredible Hulk, knowing that people can be extremely critical of unfinished CGI. Without the clip being released on the internet for comparison, nobody is going to be able to verify either way.
marvelstudios
marvelstudios - 8/22/2011, 6:50 PM
omg hope its the same hulk design from TIH. they shouldn't change it, they should stay consistent with the design, even though the actors changed. although the cgi should be improved.

If this is true, then GREAT. Why would they change the hulks appearance if its set in the MCU.

Can someone please tell me what the timeline is supposed to be with the thor, IM2, and hulk films. Bc the scene at the end of hulk as well as the appearance of thor DURING the hulk film would lead me to believe they all take place at the same time.

Also.....to comment directly on the thread topic. I would love if they didnt change the Hulk's look even though the original goal of that film was to have it look somewhat similar to Norton.
