Yes, the dialogue was a bit weak in MOS. So, Goyer will definitely need a co-writer for JL, and for the MOS sequel.

I think Jonathan Nolan should help Goyer, or Kevin Smith.

Goyer is a hack.

MoS was disappointing imo BECAUSE of his shitty cheesy dialogue. Characters felt soulless and he's blame for writing them.

Snyder did a great job though.

Goyer's work on Man of Steel is..FLAWED, but not disastrous. there're some points and directions that he did right and some..NOT so right. but, overall, he's on the right track and gazillion times BETTER than the snoozer, Superman Returns. however, if he DOES get a co-wrier, PLEASE..DO NOT let it be Geoff Johns. he's part of Green Lantern the movie's failure. ACCEPT it.

perhaps let someone from the movies, known for their witty and smart touches in dialogue..how about Kevin Smith?? i think as long as he does NOT steer the whole project, but more in a 'supporting' capacity, Smith would be a huge help to Goyer's concept. the combo of the two would be interesting and a draw in itself.

what i think is lacking in MoS..and what SOME (including me) might feel is mostly missing from it is the sense of FUN and WONDER, which one would and SHOULD expect from a superman movie. instead most of what i got after watching the flick is..exhaustion and..QUESTIONS. lots of questions. much like the last of Nolan's movies. though, overall, i still like MoS better than the not-yet-ready-to-RISE Dark Knight RISES.

and i hope..well, if Marvel can do it, i don't think it'd be a problem..how about a RECAST for Lois Lane..?? Amy Adams (and i've been SAYING this since forever) is just WRONG for this part. and she looks TOO OLD, specially next to Henry Cavill's Supes. if that's still on table, then we'll be fine.

Goyer is pretty good, but his work needs to be double-checked by Jonathan Nolan. Jonathan Nolan was the script brainchild behind the great batman movies! Do it Jonathan, do it!

bladeshad - 6/15/2013, 10:46 PM
goyer wrote a superman who doesn't care about the building in his cities or the safety of the citizens in them. and wrote a jonathan kent who doesn't think clark should save people or use his powers for good. who thinks his sons secret is more important then the lives around him.

he wrote a superman who murders his enemies rather then talks to them. something superman would never do. and only did in an alex ross alternative universe (he kills the joker after the joker mercilessly murders lois lane. after killing him HE RETIRES)

superman like Jesus is a talker. the type of person who believes people can CHANGE. and change for the better. he is the poster boy for LAWFUL GOOD. and anything else is doing the character disservice!

Goyer's doing Justice League? THE Justice League? Great. My worst fear has been realized. The man better step his game up because the story in MOS was a big mess.

I'll give you the point with the amount of careless destruction. That complaint is legit. But hating the movie for those other reasons is completely asinine. Pa Kent was worried about the consequences if Clark revealed himself. What if the government took notice? Then what? Clark was not mature enough to reveal himself yet. Simple as that.

Zod had to be killed because there was no other option. Even if he saved the family, how would that stop Zod from killing more innocents? And where would he be taken with the access to Phantom Zone destroyed? You'd have to make the story more convoluted by introducing kryptonite or red solar radiation. Besides Supes is not a killer and there he clearly felt remorse for what he did. He is no where near similar to the Supes depicted in your scan.

I'm a huge Batman buff and I loved MoS. It was better than TDK and TDKR and on par with Begins. It rivals for best CBM against Watchmen and Avengers. Goyer did great. As for the writing, quit whining. Goyer literally took quotes from the comics and used them in the film. Also, this movie is a Smallville fan's wet dream. The amount of characters and actors from Smallville in the film is impressive.

The movie is great and a fantastic start to build the DCCU.

@bladeshad: This is an origin story. How is he suppose to know the consequences and aftermath of death if he never committed the crime? His actions following what he did to Zod, dropping to his knees and screaming in agony, reveals he is mad, frustrated, confused amd in pain.

Superman killed Zod, Faora, and I believe Jax-Ur when he was in an alternate universe. It was in Action comics (don,t remember the issue #) and the villians had already 3 billion people on an alternate earth as well Oliver Queen, Bruce Wayne and Hal Jordan (not super heroes there but ever bit as heroic in trying to stop the trio. Luthor (a good guy who accidently released them from the Phantom Zone)died because of his unwillingness to see the group defeated except by his own hand. Superman used the gold k to take away their powers permanently. Zod boasted that even without their powers, they would eventually find their way to Superman,s earth and repeat what they did there; to destroy every human being on the planet. The Phantom Zone projector had been destroyed, leaving Superman with the only option of exposing them to green kryptonite, ensuring the fact that they would never menace anyone ever again. even though no one on earth ever knew what had happened, it weighed heavily and Superman, causing a nervous breakdown that resulted in an super hero alter-ego. I believe that the MOS sequel will touch on the fact that he took a life and therefore show the consequences of his actions.

I like the idea of Kevin Smith co-writing with Goyer. Smith has excellent comic sense and a reverence for comic books. When is someone going to let him direct a comic book movie!?!?!?!?
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 6/15/2013, 11:28 PM
@vtopa: Because he doesn't want to. He likes simplistic films. He praises these action directors cause he knows he can't do it. Now, as much as I love Smith. As I own every View Askew film and realize Smith is arguably the biggest nerd on the face of the planet and could probably talk Superman for days, after reading The Widening Gyre and reading his Superman script, he doesn't seem to know how these major motion picture films work. He's ideas are too out there and not grounded enough to please a broader audience in today's theaters.

Goyer has a pretty shit track record for writing scripts. MOS was probably his best effort compared to shit like Blade Trinity and ghost rider. However MOS did have alot of Cringe worthy Dialogue. WB should hire a co Writer to polish the script. The last thing i want to see another dumb line like that one Chick who said "I just think hes kind of hot" lol WTF!
