American Film Institute Names THE DARK KNIGHT RISES One Of The Ten Best Movies Of 2012

The American Film Institute has today announced their official selections for the AFI Awards which "document the year's most outstanding achievements in film and television." On the lists (we also have the one for television) are some names which are sure to be familiar to comic fans.

Below are the official selections for next January's AFI Awards 2012. While some notable releases are omitted due to the fact that they are non-American productions (Skyfall and The Artist for example), this might just be our first indication of what we will and will not see nominated at the Academy Awards. As you can see, The Dark Knight Rises and Django Unchained made the list, while Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are included in their top ten list for television. The creative ensembles for each of these selections will be honoured on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Los Angeles.
