Apparently Julie Newmar Will Return To Voice 'Catwoman' In The BATMAN '66 Movie

Catwoman has been played by 6 different actresses over the years, but for fans of the classic Batman TV series the stunning Julie Newmar will definitely stand out as the best. Now we have word that Miss Newmar will return to voice the character in next year's animated movie...

According to 13th Dimension, Julie Newmar will provide the voice for Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the next year's animated take on the 1966 Batman TV series. Newmar made the most appearances as the character, though Lee Meriwether took over for the 1966 feature film and Eartha Kitt for the series' final season. Since then we've seen Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway rock the leather catsuit, but Newmar's interpretation is seen by many as the most puuuurrrrfect (sorry). Warner Bros. hasn't confirmed this yet, but if Newmar does return she'll join Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin.

The header pic for this article is Lee Meriwether, who played Catwoman in the feature film, not Julie Newmar. The pic blackandyellow posted is Ms Newmar.

@joshwilding--The show played in syndication for years, so you don't have to be 60 to have a nostalgic attachment to it. But I'm sure even 60 year olds will watch it if it's quality and the comedy is good.

You sure? I can't tell with the mask but that's the pic that came up with a Newmar Google search...

Absolutely positive. And I don't speak up if I'm not 100% sure.

If they're going with a voice, it should be Eartha Kitt's. Sad she passed. RIP.

Julie Newmar owned this role. Way ahead of her time, she just GOT the character in a way that others have tried to imitate after her. But personally, Merriwether was hotter looking to me than Newmar

@joshwilding
Batmann 66 was freaking great!
It didn't ruin anything. Are you high?

And you don't want it to ruin one of the 3 yearly spots?
After War, Son of Batman, Flashpoint and Superman Unbound are you seriously concerned about not getting 3 quality movies a year?
I can pretty much guarantee Batman 66 will be better than any of those.

Eartha Kitt or suck a dick

I'm not overly thrilled or excited about this at all. I feel like this is going to be like the 1st time I watched He-Man re-runs again after 20 years. Actual 2 minutes my feels just vanished when I remembered that reality rarely stands the test of time how our feelings/memories would like.

Personally, I think this has train wreck written all over it. Not to mention, I'm friggin full to overflowing with bat(pause).

I'd rather see the following animated movies over this:
Teen Titans; Deathstroke The Terminator; Justice League Dark; GL/Flash teamup; Red Hood (Jason, not pre-chem bath Joker) and the Outlaws; GL Corp

or how about something completely out the window - like a "Lobo vs." where he takes on the Justice League...

I'm just saying. Yes, rotary phones are dope and cool in hindsight, nostalgically speaking, but to actually use one in 2015? the novelty wears off the first time you try to access google...

'66 Batman is the rotary phone...

This is great news! So excited for this. 66 Batman didn't ruin anything, I it saved the comic from being canceled and the character from obscurity. So all who love the character should show a little gratitude for this Classic show. One of the great things about Batman is there are so many different interpretations for all kinds of audiences and tastes. I appreciate them all for what they are.
Plus it gave us the Batmobile that every incarnation since gas copied.

Yuppers, @case. Once I chose that pic of Julie Newmar as my avatar, years ago, I never changed it, even once. I was around when the Batman series was in first-run, and my older brothers must have watched it and that had an impression on me.

But Julie Newmar?

Omigod, even NOW I lust for that beautiful, classy lady. Just as sexy as sexy can be. And being a sucker for sexy long legs and thigh-high stockings, my avatar is a perfect match.

Ms. Newmar, you are one of my all-time goddesses!

~Love, bro.
