Christian Bale Shares His Thoughts On That Silly BATMAN v SUPERMAN Rumor; Talks Ben Affleck

There was a rumor that came out regarding Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, that claimed that Christian Bale was really portraying the Caped Crusader, and Ben Affleck was playing Deathstroke. Just as you might have expected, Bale shared his thoughts on the matter...

Remember that ridiculous “Robin is the Joker” rumor that spread across the web? Yeah, well just when you thought the rumor mill couldn’t get crazier, a fan made a theory that suggested Christian Bale was reprising his role as Batman in "Dawn of Justice", and Ben Affleck was an impostor Batman who would later be revealed to be Deathstroke. Sigh.

When Christian Bale was asked about the rumor in an interview with Yahoo! , he made clear that Ben Affleck IS Batman. “I haven’t heard that. This is the first I’ve heard of it. I think it’s pretty clear that Ben [Affleck] is playing Batman now.” Shortly after, he added. “No, it’s not happening.”

Now that we have that out of the way, Bale, in a separate interview with E! Online, revealed what he thinks about Ben Affleck becoming the new Dark Knight. “I'm not thinking anything. I'm sort of totally oblivious to it—I've removed myself but, um, you know, yeah, I mean, great...I'm happy to have to done it and I'm happy to see what someone else does with it."

Even though he said he's removed himself from it, you got to remember what he did when the news first came out about Affeck as Batman. For those who don't remember, here's what he first said about the announcement, while speaking with Empire late last year.

"I've got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, 'Oh go on... Let's do another.' So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour."

Well, the past is the past! We must now look to the future! And the future of Batman is looking quite bright! What do you think about bale's thoughts? Would you have liked to see him reprise his role in the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

My least favorite rumor I think I've ever heard. Bale's Batman would be demolished by Cavill's Superman. Imagine that, it would be so unfair. Glad this wont be happening.

Can we start coming up with theories that actually make some god damn sense? I thought the Joker theory was [frick]ing ridiculous but this one.... this is just pure lunacy!

Now that's just silly. Jason Todd is Joker, though... ;)

Christian Bale wasn't the Batman I know. And being a detective and getting mauled by dogs despite trained by ninjas certainly is a huge part Batman. Can't blame him. He did his best with the material given to him.

That being said, this rumor is friking ridiculous.

So true. I'm sorry but the how CAN batman hurt a Superman who went toe to toe with Zod and came out unscathed??? Without kryptonite I mean...

It's Ludacris...

Thank god The Last Son of Krypton holds back against lesser beings haha. If he didn't, this fight would be over with a shot of heat vision to the head lol.

Kinda surprised that Superman doesn't use his superspeed when charging towards Bat

Oh, man. I write for MoviePilot but when I saw that article. I was so embarassed to be associated with that website. Just know that not everyone on there starts ridiculous rumors and calls it "journalism" filled with "facts". The site was "intended" for fans just to blog about their interests in movies and in return were offered cool rewards. For instance, they flew me out to LA to see the Ant-Man movie at the Disney Studios backlot and set me up to interview Michael Pena. Everything was all inclusive. Plus, they get me free tickets to my local Comic Con. But I seriously debated (still am actually) leaving the website just because of ridiculously click-baity it's gotten. I don't support that...but I still want free Comic Con tickets...so I just limit my writing enough to keeping a presence but not to get too involved. lol

I wish there was another website I could run to and get rid of all my MoviePilot ties.

What kind of rumour is this?! Who's the numb nuts that made this? Should give the bastard a good sacking before he/she makes up another stupid rumour.

I love this theory. Not because I really love Bale's Batman or anything, but it would be such a ballsy mindscrew to have the guy that everyone knows is playing Batman end up being Hush or Wilson or some other impostor.

But I'm glad it's (almost certainly) not going to happen. Bale's heart was never really in this. He's a good actor, and fanatically intense about his craft, but there's nothing satisfying about his Batman. It's actually often cringe-inducing...

The theory may still be right, even if the Batman is wrong...

@DinoRanger I know I know but sometimes supes will charge at you at superspeed, stop in front of you and then maybe throw you. His speed would surprise his opponents. He won't charge and attack all at once. Smallville would do that a lot. Flash even does it. It's no big deal

Or... you know, what about the guy who actually inherited the Batcave?

I felt like JGL got screwed on his DKR role... He would've made for a great Night Wing or any sidekick to Batman.

@MrPagBrewster

I actually like the JGL stuff in Dark Knight Rises. Yes, even the orphan eyes. :)

Nolan's Batman wasn't really about the secret identity stuff. Just about everyone who spent any amount of time with Bruce Wayne figured it out. In fact, the current crop of "secret identities don't work" movies generally work for me. Iron Man admitting it straight out, Ant-Man introducing himself as Scott, Foggy discovering Matt, even Carol Ferris recognizing Hal with the silly mask. Secret identities are great, and I expect Spider-Man will probably focus a bit on them, but they have been the central gimmick for so many heroes for so long that it's refreshing to have people see right through them from time to time.

But yeah, I think everyone agrees that JGL would have been an amazing Dick Grayson. Just truly an inspired choice, but oh well...

I'm a bit less keen on Lois knowing Clark's identity from the get go, but... whatever. I can live with it. Superman is a character that needs the secret identity, like Spider-Man.

But for Batman... If Bruce Wayne is practically a shut in that no one gives much thought to, what difference does it really make?

Isn't JGL doing the Sandman movie with WB?

Oh yeah, I guess he is. Unless... it's all a big ruse and he's actually been working on the new Batman movie!

Sorry guys, this is unrelated but these are bullet points from a review of Jessica Jones and it does mention that in the flashbacks she does have her classic superhero costume, and there's some other interesting stuff as well, so check it out if you like.

" At last, we have confirmation that Channing Tatum exists in the Marvel Universe.
“Self-respect. Get some.”
There’s undoubtedly more sex at work here than we’ll ever see from anyone else under the Marvel umbrella, though not without the stock L-shaped sheets, or occasionally, jeans.
As I said, some of the dialogue cryptically bends around speaking any actual Avengers’ names (Daredevil at least said “Captain America” aloud), though Jessica Jones might be the first TV property to display one of their costumes.
Stranger still, while “The Incident” gets a few namedrops, no one wants to call out the evil robot who took an Eastern European country for a ride?
It takes a New Yorker to end up bothered by certain landmark details, whether the continued presence of the MetLife building, reference to a warehouse on 14th and 8th (it’s a busy intersection), or a sequence that seemingly cuts between winter and spring in Union Square.
Yes, you will at least see Jessica’s comic costume, albeit without the pink hair.
“If this is a booty call, I like your chances.”
There’s enough references and allusions to Jessica’s limited flight, that I’d presume we actually see her gain control of it at some point.
There is at least one Daredevil crossover, though not everyone will necessarily notice at first."
