DC ENTERTAINMENT And Former BATMAN Actors Pay Tribute To Adam West

DC Entertainment has issued an official statement on Adam West's passing, joining his Batman peers, comic book heavyweights and a host of others paying tribute to the late, great actor.

Perhaps no other former Batman actor has embraced playing the Caped Crusader more than Adam West.   Most actors seek to distance themselves from being typecast after playing such iconic roles but West never shied away from his time underneath the cape and cowl.  That's probably why his rendition is so beloved to this day and is perhaps why West's portrayal continues to be the first exposure many young, impressionable minds have to The Dark Knight.  So it should come as no surprised that so many have expressed just how much the '66 Batman means to them.

Check out a small fraction of the tributes below.

DC Entertainment's Official Statement:
Adam West’s portrayal of Batman was a huge contribution to the Caped Crusader’s status as a true pop culture icon. His work helped bring comic books into the mainstream, and encouraged a generation to discover the wonderful stories and characters that made up Batman’s world through the pages of comic books like Batman and Detective Comics.

“Like many others, Adam West as Batman was part of my childhood,” said Geoff Johns, President & Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment. “Watching those reruns every day after school, Batman made reading comics that much more real for me growing up.”

“Batman’s popularity will be forever linked with Adam West,” said Jim Lee, Publisher, DC Entertainment. “He brought joy to legions of fans around the world and was the gateway for many of them to discover or in some cases rediscover their love of comic books. He’ll be deeply missed.”

Arnett's LEGO Batman is the most West-like Batman we've seen since the 60s, IMO.

The news was sad enough yesterday. A few of these tweets made me emotional too. So many people of all ages and backgrounds loved this man, a real class act and I doubt anybody could find a bad thing to say about Mr West. Go bless you, Batman.

@Invasion96 - Cesar Romero is an underrated Joker. Next to Adam West he was the best thing about the '66 Batman series.

@Invasion96 - lol, Baleman would've quit, handed over his entire fortune over to a girl he just met simply because he lost his virginity to her, and then given up his obsession...
