After celebrating the 40th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark last week, Pop Jedi returns to the realm of comic book movies to celebrate the recent anniversary of Batman Returns.
The 1992 sequel to the 1989 Batman film saw the return of director Tim Burton as well as Michael Keaton re-donning the cape and cowl. It also featured the addition of Danny DeVito as The Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and other great actors including Christopher Walken, Michael Gough, Pat Hingle, Michael Murphy, and Vincent Schiavelli.
Join Pop Jedi hosts Rob DiLauro, Di Marie, and JennaSayWhat as they cover some of the latest pop culture news, including Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, and Loki, as well as their discussion and celebration of another film anniversary!
After the phenomenon that was Tim Burton's "Batman", he came back to the franchise that with a story that was even darker, and introduced audiences to two more of Gotham's denizens, the forgotten and mutated Oswald Cobblepot and a fractured and subservient secretary named Selina Kyle, and as fans of the sequel know they would go on to be known as Penguin and Catwoman. The continuation was gothic horror, twisted, and gruesome, but despite the controversy and critical lashing, many felt it was superior to the first, and there are a few members of Pop Jedi who would praise it as masterful.
Next week, Pop Jedi returns to the realm of Marvel heroes and films with an episode dedicated to Black Widow!
