Joseph Gordon Levitt On TDKR: "We Are Not Just Doing It For A Paycheck"

Because of the mystery surrounding his character JGL has been pretty cagey when discussing his work on Christopher Nolan's Batman threequel. But he is at least willing to talk about how he and his colleagues feel about working on the movie..

Nothing revealing here but before his appearance at the Ohio Union on Monday Joseph Gordon Levitt discussed various things with The Lantern. Most of it was to do with his collaborative website hitRECord.org but Levitt also shared a little on his experiences working on The Dark Knight Rises, suggesting that everyone is very passionate and determined to make the best movie possible. As we know Levitt will be working with a few old cast-mates from Christopher Nolan's Inception; Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard..

Working with the same people on both movies creates a familial atmosphere, Gordon-Levitt said.

"Everyone (on set) is really excited about what we're making ‘cause everyone knows we're making something good," Gordon-Levitt said. "We're not just doing it for a paycheck, we're not just punching the clock, everyone really cares about the movie, and that always makes it way more fun to do."

Obviously he didn't say peep about his character John Blake! So far all we know is that he is a GCPD officer in Jim Gordon's squad, but because of Levitt's high profile and relative lack of information aside from that many think he will turn out to be more than he seems. Perhaps a more familiar character from Batman mythology. Personally, I think he is John Blake, Gotham City cop. But we shall see.

AFTER NOLAN"S TAKE, AFTER ALL THE OTHER TAKES ON BATMAN LIKE BURTON AND SHUMAKER'S..FROM GOTHIC TO NEON COLORFUL..WHAT OTHER WAY CAN THEY GO?...I HONESTLY THINK THEY SHOULD STICK WITH THIS FORMULA, BECAUSE IT WORKS. IF THEY GET EVEN MORE GRITTY OR TOO CARTOONY IT WILL JUST GO TO CRAP.

It's not always about the money. Obviously they have to get paid for their work, but many actors take huge cuts if they feel passionate about something. They wouldn't need to with a big budget flick like TDKR but for example Brad Pitt did The Assassination Of Jesse James for a few grand or something.

Couldn't have said it better myself Nolan knows how to make a film... Just look at his track record... He hasn't made a single bad film and has already made 2 of the best batman films ever made. Stop whining about Batmans voice or how Anne Hathaway isn't as attractive as the girls in your crinkled magazine underneath your mattress. There's a solid cast in this film, all of the major roles are either up and coming stars or Oscar winning and/or nominated actors/actresses. How about we watch the film first before forcing yourself to find tiny fanboy critiques like Catwoman does have a whip or Bane doesn't look like a character from Nacho Libre.

Why is every one still bitching about the [frick]ing costumes? It's been like 4 or 5 months and most of you guys are still bitching. Cmon guys not everything can be perfect in movies like they are in the comics. Move on your not the ones getting paid to make this movie!

I agree the costume bitching needs to stop, and also that this movie is going to rock.

Buuut... I REALLY want a different take on Batman after Nolan is done with it. The main character is nothing like the comic version to me.

I see the nolanverse as (obviously) the BEGINNING of Batman. I hope in the end of TDKR he becomes the ultimate hero we all know in the comics. Then the next trilogy can start from there.

Enough of the current cop thrillers delivered by Nolan IMHO, even if they're very good ones.

I want a more Comic Book Batman approach.

Some of U do not know style these are nice outfits. I think it is time some of U stop allowing ur personal hate stop clouding ur judgement. Be real & give respect were respect is do.

I still remember back in the late 80's when people was harsh with their comments about Michael Keaton being Batman/Bruce Wayne but soon after seeing the film he got acknowledgment for the awesome work he did & the same with Heath as the Joker.

Like it or not Nolan is a great filmaker, Bale is a great actor & Batman/Bruce Wayne, TDK is the greatest CMB of all time, & I truly feel & believe TDKR will top it.

TDKR is my most anticipated CMB & Man of Steel is my second.

& nearly the whole world has spoken not only on this site that TDKR is the most anticipated movie of 2012, please just enjoy that all these CMB films such as TDKR & the Avengers are coming out period ;)

Honestly I hate comic book batman aside from Year One, Long Halloween,cDark Victory & Joker: Graphic Novel.

Batman Arkham Asylum/City is cool for a video game but for the reboot I hope it goes with a look simliar to Lee Bermejo artwork in Joker Graphic Novel.

I mean what the hell is wrong with Nolan? Catwoman is a sleek, international master cat burgler with feline quickness and agility.... I mean c'mon! A slim female with in black body suit and the latest high tech gear would never make more sense then a big boobed shiney leather-clad chick in high heels a whip and a cowl. Yep, porn star catwoman makes waaaay more sense Nolan! How dare you be realistic and not make movies only for nerds! Damn you Nolan!

Nolan brings out the best in his actors.
It's good to hear Levitt say that.

Nice to see a little genuine integrity on a production. Makes for good quality, the quality that Nolan is known for. Can't wait to see this.
