Josh Brolin Liked Idea Of Playing An "Older And Wiser" Bruce Wayne In BATMAN/SUPERMAN

Josh Brolin has already confirmed that he was in talks for the role of Batman, but now reveals whether he ever had a specific take on the character in mind. He also shares his disdain for those who have said that Ben Affleck is wrong for the role because he previously played Daredevil.

"I honestly don't know!" Josh Brolin told MTV News when they asked him exactly how close he came to playing Bruce Wayne in Zack Snyder's Batman/Superman movie. As for whether he had at any point thought about what his take on the Caped Crusader would look like, the Oldboy star added, "No. I mean, I started thinking about it personally...you know, what are they going to do with this older, wiser version? I liked the idea and I thought it was a really interesting idea." However, while it seems obvious from the video interview above that he was disappointed not to get the job, he's not envious of the vitriol which has since been thrown Ben Affleck's way. "Ben's got so much flak from this, I actually got angry for him, not at him. Everyone else is angry at him! I'm really curious to see what he does and what Zack does. I'll see the movie. I'll be a fan to see whatever version they're going to do. But how do you bring up a movie that Ben did 10 or 15 years ago and...I mean, c'mon, the guy has grown and matured and just look at the work he's doing now. I'm going to defend him literally until death!"

Can't help but feel he'd have been a better choice, but I'm interested to see what Affleck does with the role.

Man I would have loved Brolin for Batman.

Also its not that Batman is older and wiser, its that he's well into his career. He's established himself as Gotham's savior.

He's in a place more like Batman Returns or The Dark Knight than he is in Batman Begins or Batman.

They got a new actor.. now they need a better Bat-suit than the others.

Bale's suit wasn't bad but I don't think we've seen the "best" costume that can be created.

problem is borlin looks like he could be henry's dad

he was too old ben is perfect age where he looks mature and seasoned but not old enough to be henry's senior

Ben Affleck being the best choice? Nope, but it is a win-win for both WB and Affleck. Affleck makes WB fund his future films and WB gets their moneymaker (DAT ASS).

If there is one thing that CBM fanboys can agree on, it's that the person they didn't choose would have been better. Never fails. If Brolin got the part, we would be having the conversation about how Affleck would have been better and how terrible Jonah Hex was.

Brolin would have been great but a little to old if we want these movie to continue. Though with a little bit of makeup he would be a great Bruce in Batman Beyond movie.

Both Brolin and Affleck are BOTH terrible choices. Brolin is an actor who has appeared in many Warner Brothers films including the panned Jonah Hex and Gangster Squad so I imagine that of course he is going to tow the company line.

And as far as people bringing up movies from 10 years ago, he conveniently leaves out the fact that Affleck repeatedly stated how much he did not like the experience of playing a superhero and that he felt "humiliated" wearing the costume...as recently as 2009!

@HAILHYDRA, preach! You speak the truth...

I think Brolin would have been a fantastic choice with an all around more seasoned cast. In fact, if they ever decide to bring Batman Beyond back to the table, who would be better than this guy? Nobody IMO.

@OldGreg lol @ throat cancer...

Brolin may have been easier to accept because we were told in advance he was under consideration and Ben Affleck came outta nowhere.

If you're gonna give Affleck shit for DD you have to give Brolin shit for Jonah Hex.

Brolin would be too old for what they were looking for.
Good actor, but not for Batman.

But what concerns me right now is the suit (with or without Affleck in it).
I want to see the whole creating process so desperately... from concept to sculpting etc...
Everyone's suit was fantastic in Man Of Steel and i 'm guessing that the new Bat-suit will draw some inspiration from Kryptonian armors and a bit of Nite Owl's suit from Watchmen.

I liked Daredevil. Affleck was fine as Daredevil. This has nothing to do with that. Fans are just concerned that he might not have the correct profile to play the archetypal character that other actors (such as Brolin) would have brought to the role.

@Forthas, everyone likes going in on these actors with notoriously bad films. But, i challenge anyone of you to name at least an actor who have done more than 5 films without a bimb under their belt...

Film critcs can be harsh, and, most of us cannot account for their motive, state of mind, or, qualifications when seeing these films. The majority of filmgoers are easily swayed; hell, you here ppl on here repeatung shit they saw in another article all the time. And, at the end of the day, it is a matter of opinion/taste.

I have reservations, not of Ben being Batman completely ok with it, my reservations stim from if Batman has been Batman for 10 years or even 5 or 2 think that defeats the whole purpose of Superman kicking off the DCU. Now Bruce Wayne going around as Matches or another alias and being seasoned as in he's been perfecting his craft that I am ok with, I guess I could even deal with him being Batman as long as it is just an urban legend and never before been seen by anyone in the public. But Zack stated that "we have to get Superman right to kick off the universe" and "Superman is the first then that leads into everyone else." So to bring in a Batman and say he's been doing this for 10 years just seems stupid to me, I thought the point was to go like the comments that these other 'heros' are out there preping themselves, and doing some good in the world without the costumes and code names. Then bam Superman appears to the world he's the 1st and it gives them the idea/inspiration to comeout of hiding like him... I dk just think it makes the start of the DCU contradicting what they said they were doing...i dk.

@superCat i feel you bro. No assisted living Batman for me either.

Everyone keeps bringing up acting like it means they will automatically be great in a role. George Clooney is a fantastic actor and he stunk as Batman. I don't think he took the job seriously at all. Not to mention, the direction was all wrong in the film...

@YourMomsFavorite, so what. It sounds like he was just throwing an unpolished concept out there. Nothing is written in stone until the movie comes out so maybe we should take every little detail we hear so literally.
