So I recently recalled that Scott Adkins supposedly auditioned with WB to play Batman, as reported by CBM's KingLeonidas here.
Scott had tweeted:
Some BIG news fans!! Warner Brothers have approached Scott Adkins to audition to be the new BATMAN & he has...
— Scott Adkins (@TheScottAdkins) August 9, 2013
Of course that tweet was quickly deleted, which means it could have been a joke, or someone, maybe from WB, asked for it to be removed.
Which got me thinking, if it was true, could it mean that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman while Scott Adkins would be his stunt double and do all the fight scenes? It is possible that WB met with Scott before finalizing the deal with Ben Affleck, but I really doubt that is the case as I'm sure the Ben deal took quite some time to iron out.
Now, Affleck and Adkins don't look like identical twins, but I think they do look enough alike, that Scott in the Bat-suit could make for a reasonable double to Ben in the suit. One of the
Daredevil complaints is how stiff Affleck was during the action scenes, so having someone like Adkins step into the cape and cowl would likely be an improvement.
OR (and this is where I really go to crazy town) could Scott actually be playing the TV version of Ben's Movie Batman? Could this be one of the reasons that WB and Co. decided to go with a slightly older/seasoned Batman/Bruce Wayne for the new movies, so that the story of the younger Batman could play out on TV? (I realize that Scott is only a few years younger than Ben, but for the sake of the story, they could make him younger)
After I read about the Adkins tweet, I wanted to see more of him as an actor, because I had only seen him in
Ninja and
The Expendables 2. So, via Netflix I watched
Undisputed III: Redemption and
Assassination Games and frankly, I didn't see anything to make me think he could be Batman/Bruce in a big-budget WB movie... but for TV, I think he would be fine and actually do quite well. Especially if it were a Batman show on the CW, since I'm sure Adkins could do as well as Tom Welling as Clark or Stephen Amell as Ollie.
Again, I admit this is a huge leap, but that Scott Adkins tweet was just too odd to completely ignore. Let me know what you think, but please, be kind -- this is my first article on CBM.
