Speculation: Affleck + Adkins = BATMAN?

Speculation: Affleck + Adkins = BATMAN?

Ben Affleck is officially Batman/Bruce Wayne, but what about Scott Adkins' curious Tweet, earlier this month?

So I recently recalled that Scott Adkins supposedly auditioned with WB to play Batman, as reported by CBM's KingLeonidas here.

Scott had tweeted:

Some BIG news fans!! Warner Brothers have approached Scott Adkins to audition to be the new BATMAN & he has...
— Scott Adkins (@TheScottAdkins) August 9, 2013

Of course that tweet was quickly deleted, which means it could have been a joke, or someone, maybe from WB, asked for it to be removed.

Which got me thinking, if it was true, could it mean that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman while Scott Adkins would be his stunt double and do all the fight scenes? It is possible that WB met with Scott before finalizing the deal with Ben Affleck, but I really doubt that is the case as I'm sure the Ben deal took quite some time to iron out.

Now, Affleck and Adkins don't look like identical twins, but I think they do look enough alike, that Scott in the Bat-suit could make for a reasonable double to Ben in the suit. One of the Daredevil complaints is how stiff Affleck was during the action scenes, so having someone like Adkins step into the cape and cowl would likely be an improvement.

OR (and this is where I really go to crazy town) could Scott actually be playing the TV version of Ben's Movie Batman? Could this be one of the reasons that WB and Co. decided to go with a slightly older/seasoned Batman/Bruce Wayne for the new movies, so that the story of the younger Batman could play out on TV? (I realize that Scott is only a few years younger than Ben, but for the sake of the story, they could make him younger)

After I read about the Adkins tweet, I wanted to see more of him as an actor, because I had only seen him in Ninja and The Expendables 2. So, via Netflix I watched Undisputed III: Redemption and Assassination Games and frankly, I didn't see anything to make me think he could be Batman/Bruce in a big-budget WB movie... but for TV, I think he would be fine and actually do quite well. Especially if it were a Batman show on the CW, since I'm sure Adkins could do as well as Tom Welling as Clark or Stephen Amell as Ollie.

Again, I admit this is a huge leap, but that Scott Adkins tweet was just too odd to completely ignore. Let me know what you think, but please, be kind -- this is my first article on CBM.

Maybe...

But I would prefer Ben as Batman throughout.

Give Cavill some lifts.

Bale went up on the edge of the Sears Tower.

Gotta love Bale's dedication to the role.

I think Adkins will probably be doing stunt work/fight choreography and Ben will do all of the dialogue scenes with the cowl on or off.

The would look alike when only seeing their jawlines/stubble so I think that's what makes the most sense.

Arnold in Batman & Robin played Mr Freeze only in the dialogue and close up scenes.

Just saying that's an example.

Scott Adkins went in for an audition. A week later, Ben Affleck was announced as the new Batman. Conclusion - Adkins isn't Batman. It's really that simple.

@tvor03 - That's definitely the simplest conclusion, I agree, but does it not seem odd to anyone else that they were looking at Adkins at the same time as Affleck. I did and do still have some concerns regarding Ben as Batman, but he's still a world apart from Scott.

Sucks that Adkins wasn't cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne. He turned in a really good performance in Universal Solider: Day of Reckoning, which turned out to be a surprisingly good action film as well.

It's pretty standard practice to look at more than one actor for a role. Nothing odd about it. Adkins should have kept his mouth shut.

Well if it does turn out to be his stunt and fight double that will be very disconcerting since all I will think about watching Batman do anything action wise will be "Hey there goes the stunt double doing everything.". I mean this is Steven Segal status right here just what I want out of my action star.

I think the first portion of your editorial is likely. But no way they put batman on TV.

@Blackjack dude who said one would play Bruce and one would play Bats, it's pretty obvious that if Scott were involved he would be a stunt DOUBLE.

JorEllinator - 8/28/2013, 11:23 AM
Ben Affleck would never let that happen.

@dougieisrollingthejays - Thanks. And yeah, the second part of the editorial was just wild speculation.

More likely, the older/seasoned Batman could lead WB to play with the idea of sidekicks, once we get to the solo Batman movies.

Prob :P

Affleck as Bats is easy

anyone can play BATMAN....

It's the Bruce Wayne character, no chance in hell Matt Murdock :p

@BlackJack i assumed you thought that theory was brought up in this thread but no worries. I agree that that would be a very stupid thing to have two different people playing bruce and batman, nice spidey pic btw
:D

I wouldn’t mind having Adkins as a stunt double as long as Affleck does the dialog and closeups.

Either a stunt double or he just read for the part.
