TDKR: The Miranda Tate Conspiracy

TDKR: The Miranda Tate Conspiracy

I feel I should preface this article by saying I do not partake in conspiracies and I do not believe John Blake (Gordon-Levitt) will have a dual identity. However...

We've all been in those stupid arguments. Whether it's the life status of Two-Face or Johnny Depp replacing Heath Ledger as the Joker. I've always been one to ignore all that and wait (albeit anxiously) for an official word.

Aside from waiting for the official announcements, that still doesn't stop me from guessing what could happen. Then there are things I hope to see in the third Batman film. The villains I really wanted were Bane and Talia al Ghul, so my following statements might be me seeing something that isn't there.

I wanted to give you that information before I give you four reasons why I think it's plausible Wayne Enterprises board member, Miranda Tate could very well be the elusive Talia al Ghul.

1. Christopher Nolan is no stranger to dual identities as seen in The Prestige (which is what a good chunk of the movie is about) and Batman Begins using Liam Neeson as both Henri Ducard and Ra's al Ghul.

2. The Ra's al Ghul storyline is never-ending as he is pretty much immortal, using different bodies to live on forever. Ra's will also appear in The Dark Knight Rises, played by The Social Network's Josh Pence. Apparently, he will be featured in a flashback from 30 years earlier (possibly around the birth of his daughter) Talia. Anyway you slice it, you know Nolan's not finished with the al Ghul's yet.

EDIT: I wasn't aware Ra's al Ghul did not switch bodies in the Nolanverse.

3. Now, I know some of you are saying the official press release doesn't say anything about Talia, but the press release from January 19, 2011 regarding Selina Kyle and Bane, it said nothing about Catwoman either.

4. I think some of you aren't reading between the lines (or maybe I read too much into it) of the official statement put out by Warner Bros.

"[Marion] Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

[Joseph] Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon."

I know I'm talking semantics here, but does anyone else find the wording here suspicious?

Also, I do believe she is the missing link in this last installment. Talia would be a great nemesis for Batman and Catwoman and the perfect "other woman" to Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. It's science!

You are looking way too far into this dude. I only read this to see if you had anything more ridiculous than whatever everyone else is saying and for the most part it's the same stuff. Henry was an actual character in the Batman mythos, the man who trained Batman. As for the other things, do you really think Nolan would use the same tricks as his last movies? I mean thats terribly uncreative of him if he does. If we can see the "twist" coming a year before the movie is even out, how special of a twist is it really?

I guess we'll see who has the last LMFAO!

But seriously, it'll probably be Christopher Nolan.

Grea points!
I also noticed this. Some people don't understand that things are not always as they originally appear.

I've noticed this a lot on the boards, and haven't mentioned anything yet.

The Ras Al Ghul that Nolan used isn't a Dread Pirate Roberts trick. Ken Watanabe wasn't really Ras, he was just a cover; thus Liam was always Ras, he just went by Ducard. As Bruce says "cheap parlor tricks to conceal your true identity".

So Ras doesn't live forever in different members, that's a strange misunderstanding. I can't figure out how so many people have this confused.

I agree. But I doubt Ra's is immortal, so there have been other "Demon heads" before him. I think Ducard was just a made up name, Ra's Al Ghul is a title, his real name is unrevealed. There was someone else before him that was known as Ra's Al Ghul.

As for Tate, I think it'll be a red herring. She'll be shady, but end up being exactly ho she says she is.

@ Canadianturd

I think you are reading too much but I agree that MT could be a disguised TAG.

However I don't think that an immortal Ras-al-Ghul exists in Nolanverse which grounded in reality and does not have that level of fantasy.

You guys are right! I thought Nolan had introduced magic into the otherwise realistic version of Batman Begins. I've actually never talked to anyone about this particular issue before, so I was just going off what I thought when I originally saw the movie.

You learn something new everyday! :P

Wait no you're wrong! i think i've finally got it. Miranda was the name of a plaent in Serenity which was directed by Joss Whedon who's now directing the Avengers... Holy crap, Batman's gonna be in the Avengers... DC and Marvel cross over! :P

@Frank

That claim that we don't know his real name is baseless from the Nolanverse. He is Ras al Ghul. Just because there were other heads doesn't mean that Ras is a title. There are no hard facts from the film to say otherwise.

Just to be clear, I agree that he is not immortal either.

Why is Miranda so interested to help him in his father's philanthropic Endeavors?
I bet she has bad intentions.
That "eager to help" really intrigues me.
A very suspicious attitude, don´t you think?
For me,she´s Talia.
She HAS to be!

Ra's Al Ghul isn't even the guy's name in the comics.
It's an Arabic phrase meaning "The Demon's Head", perhaps it is a name Liam Neeson picked for himself, but it's certainly not his own name.
FutureCBMHero
FutureCBMHero - 4/22/2011, 1:58 AM
That's good and all, but it has nothing to do with the Nolanverse. Your statement is baseless in regards to the film. Once again, you have to base it out of the film, not out of the comics.

@canadianturd

You made great points, and, may I say, I really like the title.

However, I think Miranda Tate is Miranda Tate. She is Bruce's love interest. She shines a new ray of hope on him. Bruce isn't going to return as Batman with the title of murderer on his hands. But he needs to create a legacy his father created before him with Wayne Industries. She is a board member, of course she is interested in helping him. Remember, Christopher Nolan likes to find good actors even for small roles, look at Inception for instance. I'm happy to see Wayne Industries having a role in this anticipated finale to the Batman Saga.

"Ra's Al Ghul isn't even the guy's name in the comics." Where do you people get this crap? His name most certainly is Ra's Al Ghul in the comics. He first appearing in Batmn #232. And yes Ra's is essentially immortal, but he doesnt switch bodies. He has hidden Lazarus pits, and when he baths in the pits he becomes young again, they can even bring him back from death.
