Ben Affleck Says It Would Be "A Dream" To Direct A Solo BATMAN Film - If He Has The Time

Ever since he was first cast as Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, many have hoped to see Ben Affleck go on to helm a solo Batman movie.

Total Film's November issue hit the stands today, and I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot of interesting tid-bits from the cast and crew of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice as the day goes on. However, one small part of their cover story that really stood out was a brief segment on whether Ben Affleck would be able to direct a solo Batman movie.

Rumors of Affleck working on a script with DC's Geoff Johns have been flying around since SDCC, but we've heard no official word backing them up so far. When asked by Total Film (h/t Heroic Hollywood) about whether he could see himself at the helm of a Caped Crusader film, the Argo director seemed enthusiastic, but refused to commit to anything due to his busy schedule.

"Look, if I could make it work, yeah, obviously it would be like a dream. The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you- if you’re going to direct it- that you can make it good. You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it. Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea."

BvS executive producer Charles Roven also weighed in on the chances of Affleck directing himself, claiming that WB & DC were still very early on in the process of setting up a solo Batman movie.

"He’s got a busy schedule, he’s about to start a movie now. And he’s also got obligations to be in the Justice League movie. The calendar is a little bit tricky. Of course, the script obviously has to be worthy of him wanting to direct it, and once that happens, it’s still got to fit into the calendar. We’re hoping we can make it happen. We’re just at the beginning of the question."

In reality, it's likely WB have done more than just briefly discuss with Affleck about directing a solo Batman film. However, as Roven wisely points out, his commitment to starring (and potentially even directing) other projects - both inside and outside of the DCEU - may ultimately get in the way of that "dream" scenario. How badly do you want to see Ben Affleck direct a solo Bat-film - or can you think of another worthy replacement? Be sure to sound off below!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25th, 2016.
