IMDb isn't quite as divisive as Rotten Tomatoes, but it still plays an interesting role in allowing moviegoers to share their thoughts on recent releases. Review bombing has become the norm, of course, often making it hard to take the scores featured on the site too seriously.
Needless to say, we're sure the following ranking will generate its fair share of debate as IMDb's list of 2022's top movies (and TV shows) makes for very interesting reading.
Rather than using those user scores, this ranking is instead based on the most consistently viewed pages on the site. As a result, the ranking is based more on popularity than acclaim, with only movies and TV shows that have received more than 200 million monthly page visits included in the lists below.
As a result, we wouldn't put too much stock in what you see here, especially as Thor: Love and Thunder (6.3/10) ends up ranking above Top Gun: Maverick (8.4/10). Clearly, it generated a lot more interest, though there's no way anyone can argue it's the better of the two movies, right?
We are, however, pleased to see The Batman land at #1. The movie came out back in March, and it feels like it's been largely overshadowed since despite being one of the year's best releases. We're guessing The Rock won't be too pleased to see that Black Adam didn't crack the Top 10, especially as it's such a huge hit in his eyes.
Take a look at the two rankings below.
