THE BATMAN CinemaCon Footage Description Includes Batmobile In Action, Andy Serkis' Alfred Pennyworth, & More

Warner Bros. shared a new featurette for The Batman during their CinemaCon presentation last night, and that included details on what we can expect from Matt Reeves' take on the Dark Knight. Check it out!

Warner Bros. held a presentation at CinemaCon last night, but none of the footage shown during the event has been released online. That's not hugely surprising, though it certainly wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world to finally share the trailer for The Matrix: Resurrections

A featurette for The Batman was also screened for those in attendance, and it included at least a few noteworthy moments for those of you excited to return to the world of the Caped Crusader.

According to ComicBook.com, there were shots of Bruce Wayne removing his cowl and director Matt Reeves explaining that while The Batman isn't an origin story, it does take place during the early stages of his career. Batman was also shown beating up some thugs, and star Robert Pattinson notes that this version of the hero is "really working out his rage" and "all the fights seem very personal."

Andy Serkis' Alfred Pennyworth was finally revealed (we don't have a description of his appearance, unfortunately), and that was followed by the Batmobile racing into action with flames coming from its exhaust.

Screen Rant adds that Pattinson promised a "radically different" version of the hero from previous movies, while Reeves said fans should expect an "emotional Batman movie." The vigilante was also shown fighting Catwoman, while Batman makes use of various weapons. The clip ended with the filmmaker saying, "We can’t wait for you to see The Batman in theaters next year."

We're not anticipating this being released online, but it could debut during DC FanDome in October. However, the hope is that a new trailer will premiere during that event as one is now long overdue.

The Batman is set to be released on March 4, 2022.

I know a lot of people are psyched for this, but personally, my Batman fatigue is real on top of I'm not the biggest fan of Reeves work.

Sure, I'll watch it, but I'm no more pumped for this than Clifford the Big Red Dog at this point.

@Waddles - Don't get me wrong, I want to see Clifford, for a couple of reasons, the curiosity of how JW handles a bulk of the lead being one, but it didn't deeply hurt me when it got delayed. The same thing here.

@inkniron - how anyone can speak ill of all the great films Reeves has made this far is beyond me

@McMurdo - I didn't speak ill, I just said I wasn't a fan. I could go into detail on how any Steven Segal movie, especially a sequel, isn't exactly a quality movie or talk about how cheap and amateurish any found footage film looks or feels. Yards was mediocre at best, especially with its cast. The Ape movies, even the classics that so many people love, have never been my thing. His were the same kind of meh wrapped in a shiny package. Rise was the best of the 3 new ones, because it actually gave an insight on how it all came to be. It was only ok and not even his.

I'm sure I missed a few but no, he's never really done it for me.

@inkniron - That was how I was feeling when the first trailer dropped, but I watched it again recently and I'm a bit more excited about it now. Maybe I'm just resigned to DC movies just being a mess of semi-disconnected continuity, but I could do a Batman.

Actually kind of forgot about this movie for a bit as it has been in gestation for what seems like forever, especially with all the Marvel related news lately. Anyway at this point not dying to see this but will certainly check it out whenever it arrives.

Glad it isn't another origin, but just early carreer Batman. Gives me hope they can play the long game with Batman and the extended cast of characters from Gotham

@bkmeijer - Doesn't help that Hamada and DC Films view it as a side-project. We'll probably never get there.

Just give me a detective heavy Batman movie and I will be happy. Part mystery classic Film Noir, part Se7en, Part John Wick.

Whilst I’m sure this film will be good, minus the costume, I wish we could get a fun Batman movie. Had so many gritty ones at this point.

@Twenty23Three - I recommend Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.
