THE BATMAN Director Matt Reeves Has Confirmed That The Movie's Script Is Being Rewritten From Scratch

Earlier this year, we reported on a rumor that the script for The Batman movie was being rewritten from scratch, and now that's been confirmed by the film's director, Matt Reeves. More past the jump...

It looks like the rumor that the script for Warner Bros.' next solo Batman movie was being completely rewritten was true after all, as director Matt Reeves himself has now confirmed.

Reeves was a guest on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast when Josh Horowitz asked if the original script from Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns was still in play. “No,” Reeves replied. “It’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

Before Reeves came aboard, the only thing we knew for certain about the story was that the villain (well, one of the villains) was going to be Deathstroke, and former True Blood actor Joe Manganiello was all-but a lock for the role. While Slade Wilson may still wind up being involved, the fact that it's a brand new story definitely suggests that Reeves and co. intend to take everything in an entirely different direction.

What do you guys make of this? Would you be disappointed if Deathstroke was dropped from The Batman? Sound off below.
