The Batman fans have been wondering which new villain(s) Matt Reeves could have in mind to face-off against Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in the planned sequel, and if a new rumor is to be believed, the writer/director is set to introduce a new take on one of the iconic DC hero's most infamous foes.
According to John Rocha on this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Joel Edgerton (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Warrior) and Josh Hartnett (Sin City, 30 Days of Night) are being looked at for the role of Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.
Co-host Jeff Sneider hadn't heard anything about this and didn't sound too convinced, so it's best not to put too much stock in this report for the time being.
A character like Two-Face would make sense in Reeves' more grounded "BatVerse," and it would certainly open the door for some great storylines from the comics.
When the new DCU slate was announced, James Gunn confirmed that Reeves' films will remain separate from the DCU, so this movie, along with Todd Phillips' Joker sequel, will be considered "Elseworlds" tales. A new actor will don the cape and cowl for Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell are also expected to reprise their respective roles, and we may also see the return of Barry Keoghan's Joker, who made his sinister debut in the first movie's mid-credits scene.
Plot details are still under wraps. All Reeves would offer is that his sequel will continue this "epic crime saga."
The Batman Part II is set to hit theaters on October 3, 2025.
