It’s good to see some more rumors curdling the already mixed bowl of knowledge that we have for future DC movies. The latest come from a blog at Variety posted by Variety.com deputy editor Anne Thompson.
Apparently Thompson ran in to Nolan, and gave her the impetus to write the post, in which she gives us a few tidbits of information about the movie. Apparently, “While the trailer makes the movie look pixel-big, the pic is character-driven PG, Nolan said. That way The Joker has to be really scary without resorting to real violence.” This isn’t any real surprise, but still nice to hear.
But we do find out that “…district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) … is also a key player in the movie.” This is even better news, because it seems that Eckhart’s role continues to grow, or at least, our knowledge of the role continues to grow. This should work well, for a character that is obviously being groomed for his villainous transformation so that he can take the lead alongside Bats in the third installment.
Adding to the rumor pile, with no source given, Thompson explains that Bryan Singer will probably not return to the set to shoot the Superman Returns sequel. In fact, according to this post the next Superman we will see is the younger version, to be filmed for the Justice League movie being helmed by George Miller. Though according to Thompson, “That movie will likely not be shot, however, until after the WGA strike is resolved.”
Needless to say, nice to start 2008 off with some juicy rumors that tell us very little, and simply make us want more. Not long though until Batman the Dark Knight hits theatres, hitting my hometown on the 17th of July.
