Christian Bale, Batman and the Justice League of America

I reported yesterday about Ryan Reynolds hopes and dreams for a Justice League movie, and its relation to his hopefully inevitable trip to the big screen in his own Flash movie. Well today, it’s time to turn our attention to Christian Bale and Batman.

At a press conference for his new film, 3:10 for Yuma, in Los Angeles yesterday, Christian Bale encountered questions – not unsurprisingly – about the rumors of a Justice League movie. And while some of the sites are fighting for who got the scoop, I’ll just report what is out there.

Asked whether he would be doing Justice League after The Dark Knight, Bale answered no. Had he been approached was the next question, and again the answer was no.

This in itself is a worrying state of affairs, considering how well Bale has portrayed Batman, especially in light of previous casting choices such as Val Kilmer and George Clooney (I will never retract my view that Adam West rocked!).
The next question to be answered provoked a longer answer;

“How would you feel about the studio recasting Batman for Justice League?”

“It’d be better if it doesn’t tread on the toes of what we’re doing, though I feel that it would be better if it comes out after Batman 3.”

All in all, there’s a bad news a’commin.
