BOX OFFICE: Very Early Tracking Data Points To Good Things To Come For BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
With tickets set to go on sale next week, we'll soon start getting some tracking data for Batman v Superman. However, early predictions have already surfaced as have some other very interesting details.
Both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Deadpool have recently broken box office records which left everyone surprised, but will Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice be next? It's a little too soon to say, but Deadline reports that current projections from both rival studios and tracking executives have the movie pegged at an opening of anywhere from $100 million - $140 million. However, with the movie not set to hit tracking boards until next Thursday, it's then that we'll have a much better idea of which end of that scale Batman v Superman is most likely set to fall on.
Something which the trade points out is sure to help the movie is the fact that it's playing over Easter weekend, but has the recent news of an extended R-Rated cut hitting Blu-ray damaged its chances at all? Nope. "Those rival distributors who lowered their Batman v. Superman opening forecasts toward $100M have their suspicions about the Zack Snyder-helmed movie given the MPAA’s news that the home entertainment version of the movie would carry an R-rating," the site reveals. "However, according to social media monitor RelishMix, since the R-rated news broke, the conversation for #BatmanvSuperman spiked 60% with 5K combined hashtags across Twitter and Instagram. Ninety-five percent of the chatter is positive about that R-rating."
Things are looking good, folks!
