With Ben Affleck donning the Dark Knight's cowl for the first time in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one can only imagine the hard work that went in to designing one of the best Batsuits to ever grace the big screen. Costume Designer Michael Wilkinson is the man to thank when it comes to help bringing DC's most iconic superheroes to life.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Wilkinson spoke about Ben Affleck and his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. "I think people are going to be blown away by his Bruce Wayne and his Batman," said Wilkinson. "It just feels right, like he was born to be this character." Wilkinson went on to describe Affleck's version of a more weathered Bruce Wayne. "He's sexy, he's smart and seductive. He's strong and a little intimidating and scary, he's a real brawler, there's nothing precious about his Bruce Wayne. He rolls up his sleeves and gets it done."
Wilkinson then talked about the first time Ben Affleck wore the new Batsuit and his reaction to seeing himself as the Batman. "I remember he just kind of looked at himself in the mirror, pretty happy with how he looked," said Wilkinson when recalling Affleck's first time wearing the Batsuit. "The costume is very intimidating and huge and I think he intimidated himself when he looked in the mirror, so that's a good sign." Finally, when Wilkinson was asked what fans should expect from Batman v Superman, the costume designer replied, "Hold onto your socks because they're about to blown off."
