EDITORIAL: How I Think Snyder Should Introduce Wonder Woman in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN

With Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman today, plenty of people wonder how the hell Wonder Woman will be introduced in Batman vs Superman, BatmanHeisenberg tells you how he thinks she should be introduced and used in the upcoming film.

Well, what a day of big news has this been, huh? Flash and Metallo rumored to cameo, and Gal Gadot officially cast as Wonder Woman. Let it sink in, Wonder Woman will be introduced in a cinematic form for the first time ever.

But with that said, plenty of people are skeptical of how she will be introduced and used. No worries, BatmanHeisenberg is here to save the day! I want her to be a strong character that is outspoken and is strong. I will be breaking down how I think they should do the following: Character, Introduction to the World, Costume and Interactions and Story with Batman and Superman

Introduction To The World

Wonder Woman has lived in Themyscira all her life, and has never met a man. In the first ten minutes of the film(which I think should be one to two years after Man of Steel), have the aftermath of what happened in the first half hour of the Wonder Woman animated film.

Have Wonder Woman meet Steve Trevor and is now in Man’s World, where she is establishing an ambassador role between Themiscrya and Man’s World, but do it in a clever way, like through newscasts and through conversations between the people at the Daily Planet Office. Have it be significant in the first half hour in a way, and then we get to Batman and Superman’s relationship.

Character

I want her to be a strong and femine woman who can kick ass and not take shit from anyone. She has a struggle though, coping to this vastly diffrent enviorment, and is kind of sexist to. She, when she meets Superman and Batman, will show them a thing or two about fighting and not back down. But I really think it should show her struggle as an ambassador.

Costume

I have never been a fan of her panties look. She should be strong and her costume should echo this as well. I want the torso, pants, braclets and boots of this costume:

With the blue collar of this suit:

I think that would be perfect. But when in the heat of the battle, something like this would be awesome:

Interactions and Story With Batman and Superman

While Batman and Superman and their interactions and story should be the limelight, Wonder Woman should still be in there, especially in the final fight scene. I think that with Superman, the following should happen:

-Unlike Batman, she condones Superman’s actions during the battle of Metropolis

-Has a bit of spark of romance.

And with Batman:

-Disagree a lot, and have many diffrences.

-In the final action scene, they get in about killing the villain or not.

And with story, I think that she has a side role, and in the final action scene, the three team up and kick some ass.

Even if this isn’t what they do, I think it would be cool if they do. Thanks for reading!

Ummmm......no. Especially to your costume (wings on the boots? Really?) And even more so to that monstrosity of a gold winged costume, that looks absolutely horrible.

Ok, didn't really notice the bird-head helmet on that last costume. That makes it about a million times worse. Maybe a billion.

Good read. Personally though I think, and somewhat prefer, WW role to be minimal. Either a cameo or 10-15min scene(s) possibly in the third act. The focus should square largely on Batman and Superman with an introduction of sorts to WW and possibly Flash. I can see her acting as a spy for Themiscrya and working either with the military or in Washington or something - maybe give her a brief scene early on in the film but then have her show up or fully reveal herself in the third act (maybe she helps Bats and Supes fight Doomsday or whoever the villain is) or maybe even an after credits scene. Either way, im excited to finally see WW on the big scree, she is one of my favourite characters

Introducing Wonder Woman without any background and in the middle of an already misguided Superman Versus Batman film is unbelievably wrong. Wonder Woman ... just like Superman or Batman ... needs to have her own introductory film. Anything less dishonors the Wonder Woman.

I don 't like the wings, I agree, but I like it otherwise. Don't need to be trollish about it.

Thanks, and I agree. A small role in the beginning and kicks ass in the final act.

I'am a fan of the panties look but I would settle for a Xena style battle skirt. It's funny that DC keeps ditching the panties but ends up going straight back to it every time. Also that Gods among us suit sucks.

Make it so that she gains her powers from being bitten by a radioactive feminist.

Now that the joke is out of the way, I'm hoping that they find the balance necessary to ensure that Superman and Batman remain the focus of the story.

If they do include Wonder Woman, I hope they emphasize Batman's strengths. His scientific mind and detective work are what make him exceptional. One of the things that Iron Man 3 did well is emphasize Tony's mechanical genius. He took down a group of mercenaries with items bought from a hardware store. That's the kind of ability that intrigues me. Not flying around and shooting laser out of one's eyes. To the layman Captain America looks like a nonempowered wussy with a shield, but if you read into his character (especially classic Captain America) you realize that he's the has complete control over his body. Whereas Thor get's by on brute strength and doesn't pay much attention to technique, Cap is an expert on that. His ability is being able to make his body do exactly what he intends. Anyways, I hope they pay attention to what makes Batman special and why he deserves to be alongside Superman and Wonder Woman.

Why even have any reference to Themyscira?? Would require far to much back story to tread down the path of ambassador to the world story. I suppose they could advance the continuity of man of steel, and have reference to characters such as Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash already being established. Then a world wide threat like Doomsday, requiring them all to work together to overcome

I agree on the suit. I never cared for the blue stars diaper. But I don't like the leggings look the character has had in the failed pilot and in recent comic incarnations.

I like this style more for Wonder Woman in her regular look. Attractive, reminiscent of the comic character, but not overly sexualized

Lois Lane as Wonder Woman

For battle mode Wonder Woman, I like the idea of her wearing more armor, but I look at the pic of the gold suit with the wings and eagle helm and it just looks like too much.

Something like this works better in my opinion. It is more protective, but realistic to what greek mythology portrayed soldiers wearing. if you look at art portrayals of the greeks in battle very little clothing was worn.

the battle skirt is the way to go. definitely. not the panties, and not the pants. She needs to have more of a greek attire.

Great article, I wish that someone at WB read it but they won't. And I don't think they will focus that much on Wonder Woman. How many characters can you introduce in a 2-hour movie?? And they aren't whatever characters, they are Wonder Woman and the goddamn Batman! Just give us a solo Wonder Woman movie already!!!

@BenjiWest

I agree completely. This movie will take enough time re-introducing the world to a new Batman that is pretty different from past film incarnations, to also have to spend a good amount of time explaining Wonder Woman's origin.

I think a great way to introduce her is as a businesswoman or even as a staff member in the United Nations. Think about the way MOS ends. Metropolis is destroyed and the world now has to come to grips with the fact, there are superpowered aliens in the world. Of course there will be meetings amongst nations about something like that. Wonder Woman can simply be Diana Prince UN employee staking out what is happening in the world of men. Bruce Wayne would have a part in that as one of the most powerful and richest people in the world helping the rebuild of Metropolis. As a reporter Clark Kent would have to cover news of that type.

it is a simple way to gather them all together and it is believable. Save Wonder Woman's origin and Thermyscira for her solo debut.

I think she will be introduced in Batman/Superman, but that is it.

I'm talking like a Nicky Fury/Iron Man 1 cameo. Black Widow/IM2? No way. There's no way they can try to shoehorn her in like that.

I think they'll tease her and (hopefully) the Justice League movie, as far as she's concerned, will play out something like her intro in the animated series.
Or they go back and do an origin movie, Steve Trevor style, later on.

Were it up to me, I'd show the crashlanded Kara Zor-El living out millenia with primitive man and finding herself named "Hippolyta" by Vandal Savage, meaning Wild Horse. Troubled by the world of men, she manages to restore the Kryptonian birthing matrix and clone a race of warriors from DNA stores (this would have been a good excuse to recast Antje Traue as WW). These warriors went on to be worshiped as the Greek gods and found Mt Olympus on the island of Atlantis. A civil war sinks half of Atlantis into the ocean, seemingly lost forever. But half the island remains. The surviving warrior women blame the aggression of masculinity and slaughter the last of the males. When Zod tries to take over Earth, Hippolyta realizes that other Kryptonians may be on Earth, so she sends Diana into the world of man to search for one. It could open the film similar to the way they did the destruction of Krypton and pave the way for WW, Aquaman, and Kara.

@lordlegolas Exactly most of her back story.is complicated and it probably requires her own film to do it justice. I'm with I think she could be like a "in clear sight hidden character", such as she has a role or important job as Diana and grows or reveals herself Wonder Woman in final battle.

This article was over-thought. Keep the costume simple and true.

1) everyone already knows what Wonder Woman looks like

2) it doesn't matter that Linda Carter's WW wasn't in the theater...it was still a live action version of the character and should inform the visuals

3) they are not panties

4) they don't have to tell WW's introduction story. EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS IT. All she has to do is show up—like all the animated incarnations. Bond-it.

It's the only way I can picture connecting all the properties and rationalizing how magic works and why modern man doesn't see gods among them. It would also explain where Kara has been for the last 18,000 years.
DCfan89
DCfan89 - 12/4/2013, 11:16 PM
@pintoman, i disagree... not everybody knows wonder woman's story, ... most don't actually. how long ago was linda carter's wonder woman on tv? this is at least two or three generations away from that. her story needs to be told, in her own film of course, but it still needs to be told, and the traditional costume or any ww costume similar to linda carter's would not work today.

She needs an outfit more reminiscent of a warrior. I like your choices in the article!
- she needs to be seen as their equal.
Not a ditzy love interest. But a character where you think "wow, this is a pretty strong, kick ass woman".
