RUMOR: BATMAN v SUPERMAN Budget Balloons To $400+ Million; Story May Be As Divisive As MAN OF STEEL

More troubling Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice rumours have surfaced, and it sounds like the movie is going to be every bit as divisive as Man of Steel. Does that spell doom for it at the box office?

For some reason, there's an awful lot of negativity surrounding Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice right now. With some sites claiming that it's so bad Justice League could be delayed without Zack Snyder at the helm and others revealing that Warner Bros. are worried about what they've seen, this movie isn't exactly looking like the most promising of starts to the DC Films Universe.

Well, according to Latino-Review, the studio isn't so much worried as they are nervous. All in all, it's thought the budget may have gone as high as $400 million with marketing costs thrown in and they need it to be a hit which makes upwards of $1 billion as a result. Unfortunately, one of the site's sources also tells them that Batman v Superman could be just as polarising as Man of Steel

"To be clear, he loved MOS. And he's seen BATMAN V SUPERMAN, and he really liked it, too. But he also recalls how that first film came out and split audiences and critics alike. It wasn't the kind of universal crowd-pleaser that DC wanted then, and that trend may very well continue with BvS.  Again, this isn't to say that the film is bad. Not at all. But it's not for everyone, and that's making the suits nervous, as there's a lot riding on this film and they'd rather it have turned out more accessible. And the comparison to MOS is a troublesome one, because that film made $668 million worldwide- well short of what they hope BvS will bank for them."

On a slightly more positive note, word from test screening point to Ben Affleck's Batman being the movie's highlight. They also add that there's no way Snyder is being taken of Justice League and that the movie won't be delayed in preference for The Batman.  The site even theorises that, "It sounds like Snyder has made another difficult film, and DC will have to keep a very close eye on what works- and what doesn't work- when it comes out next month. It could conceivably lead to a retooling of all of their plans post-JUSTICE LEAGUE." Should we start worrying? We won't know until that first wave of reviews hit, but for now, let us know your thoughts on this news in the usual place.
