The latest trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice confirmed that The Trinity will be squaring off against Doomsday, but many fans believe the iconic villain should have been saved for the yet to be announced Man of Steel sequel. Instead, he's being used as a way of bringing together the Justice League, and in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, director Zack Snyder explained his decision to include Doomsday in the highly anticipated movie which is set to be released this March.
"To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe's most iconic and powerful villains," he explains. "He is essentially an unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film." He's clearly not going to be easy to take down then, and while neither Snyder or Jesse Eisenberg would comment in the magazine's pages about Lex Luthor's involvement with Doomsday's creation, Snyder did drop some spoilery hints about his fascination with the superhero community and powered individuals in general
"You learn pretty early on that Lex is interested in metahuman existence," Snyder explains, "and that there might be some relationship between that investigation and the appearance of Diana Prince." That lines up with rumours we heard last year about the villain performing some sort of investigation into her existence, so the plot has now very much thickened in regards to how she'll be introduced in the movie!
