This year's CinemaCon isn't exactly a star-studded affair as a lot of studios have chosen to give it a miss, but Warner Bros. was there in full force last night with a number of DC Comics adaptations.
First up was
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and the big reveal was that Harley isn't actually a member of the team. Instead, she forms an alliance with the group who have been described as "urban warriors." There were a few glimpses of footage in the presentation, including Harley roller-blading and Black Mask taking aim with a gun.
However, the coolest moment came when the five female leads (Harley, Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain) all walk towards the camera
Guardians of the Galaxy style.
It sounds like the studio is indeed targeting that R-Rating, because director Cathy Yan says,
"This is not Batman’s Gotham. Our Gotham is so much scrappier." Renee Montoya actress Rosie Perez, meanwhile, adds:
"We are not pulling any punches whatsoever." Robbie went on to say that
Birds of Prey focuses on a
"girl gang," and that lines up with a lot of what we've heard in the past.

Birds of Prey details from CinemaCon?
